Tobacco Caye — Local services in Stann Creek District

I visited Tobacco Caye Paradise in January for a couple nights. I stayed in a tiny house sitting over the water with the waves lulling me to sleep that first afternoon I arrived; awakened only by someone blowing a conch shell calling us to dinner. All the guests gathered family style in a open dining room looking out to the sea. I was travelling alone but I was gathered in by staff and guests as we enjoyed the authentic Belizean food and desserts. Yum! Amazing Island in the middle of the belizian barrier reef! You can see a lot of rays every day! There is a local reef, Where you can directly snorkel from the island. When snorkeling around the beatiful local reef we saw a school of tarpunes, a bull stark hunting them and a turtle approaching us. It’s possible to encounter stingrays, eagle rays, snappers, jacks, a baracuda family and much more. When we arrived we thought we were in paradise, and were having a wonderful time enjoying the island. Unfortunately, while we were out on the water for a few hours someone went into our cabana and stole our phone and all our money. The island doesn't have an ATM, so you have to bring any money you need. After this I didn't feel safe on the island, and couldn't enjoy our last night there.
