✨ A Lifesaver and the Ultimate Tour Guide! ✨
I travelled to Cotonu sometime in March and I booked my tour with Theophile last minute — literally while I was already on the boat heading to Ganvié. I didn’t even know it was the only boat going in at the time! If I hadn’t found Theophile and his tour, I would’ve been completely stranded in Ganvié — no language skills, no connections, just vibes and panic 😅.
But Theophile came through immediately. He welcomed us warmly and gave us a beautiful, insightful tour of Ganvié. His love for the community truly shines through everything he does.
But it didn’t stop there. He went above and beyond — taking us beyond Ganvié to a nearby city (I forget the name) just to help us change our money. He made sure we were safe, calm, and never lost. When I told him I was scared and couldn’t speak the language or navigate the bus system, he didn’t leave us behind. He literally escorted us all the way back to Cotonou, to Dantokpa, until I could find my way back to my hotel.
Theophile, you are simply the best. I’m planning another trip this September, and I’m definitely booking with you again.
If you’re in Cotonou or anywhere nearby and want to visit Ganvié, don’t think twice — go with Ganvié Tourism.
Thank you so much,...
Read moreThéo took me all around Ganvié and it was amazing. First he picked me up from my hotel in Cotonou and drove me to the small port where the boats to ganvié depart. He explained me about Ganvié’s rich history and took me to all the main attractions in the town and to be honest who can give you a better tour than a local like him? I did the 3H30 long tour and we were on time most of the times. He’s an excellent guide tour so he’s happy to explain to you whatever you ask in both English and French. I never felt unsafe or lost with him. I trust him so much. Then I asked him if he proposed as well tours to discover Ouidah, the slave route and Dantokpa market so he happily sent me an itinerary (it’s important to say that all he says that’s it’s included in the Tour it is indeed included) to see Dantokpa market, the sacred forest, the python temple, the museum of Ouidah, the salve market, the slave route, the salt production in Djègbadji and the door of no return. It was such a emotional tour where you learn about Benin’s history related to slavery. I admit he’s one of the best tour guides I’ve ever met. Congrats and thank...
Read moreI could not recommend booking a Ganvié trip with Théophile more! I contacted him one day before and he was very fast to respond. The next day, he and the driver picked me up from my hotel and we went to the small port where we then went on the boat that took us all around Ganvié. Théophile showed me the entire village and told me all about the history of Ganvié, and also answered any of my questions. We had a fisherman show us how fishing is done in Ganvié, and how important it is for the locals. We then returned back to the port where the fish market and fetish market are, and took a walk around. We also stopped at the shrine of Kininsi. All in all, this was a lovely experience that I recommend to anyone visiting Benin, especially if you have only a few hours to visit. Théophile is a wonderful guide who spoke great English and I recommend booking this...
