tiger nest view point, Wonderful place it is nearly 12 kms from Paro Town of Bhutan. Very steep climbing, one can enjoy trekking and beautiful forest. Monetary cool and calm place. nearest airport is Paro. Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger Nest Monastery, is located in Paro, Bhutan. The monastery is one of the most venerated places of pilgrimage in the Himalayan.

The legend of Taktshang (Tiger's lair) evolved form 747 AD when Guru Padmasmbhava chose a cave on a sheer rock face to meditate and, assuming a wrathful form, Guru Dorji Drolo, astride a tigress, subdued athe evil spirits n the locality. Taktshang thus became one of the most important Buddhist monuments in the Himalayan Buddhist world

Then name "Taktshang" - Tiger's Lair - was derived when the people in the locality came across a tigress residing in one of the caves. Legend has it the tigress actually was Yeshi Tshogyal, a consort of Guru Rinpoche, who has transformed herself into the fearsome animal to subjugate spirits

Taktshang clings to the rock towering 800 meters (over 2,600 feet) above the valley, and is located 2,950 meters (9,678 feet) above the sea level. It takes about 2 hours walk to reach the monastery from the road at Ramthangkha, 12 kilometers...

A Challenging Yet Rewarding Journey

Visiting Taktsang Gompa (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) was an unforgettable experience, and the viewpoint was a significant milestone on this incredible journey. The hike leading to the viewpoint was no easy feat—it was tough, steep, and at times felt like an uphill battle. With every step, the altitude and terrain tested our endurance.

But the moment you reach the viewpoint, all the effort feels worthwhile. The stunning view of the monastery perched dramatically on the cliffside fills you with awe and a sense of accomplishment. There’s an indescribable happiness that overtakes you at this spot, and it gives you the motivation to tackle the final set of stairs to the monastery itself.

Though the hike is challenging, the journey is as rewarding as the destination. The serene beauty of the monastery and the spiritual energy of the place make every step worth it. If you’re up for the adventure, Taktsang Gompa will leave you with memories to...

Tigernest monestry known as Taktshang was a nice one day hiking experience. It actually takes 2hrs climing up and comparatively less hrs to come down. It is always better to start the hike early in the morning. For those who are not used to walking and elderly people may find it little difficult. If you can't walk, all the way to he monastery, you can take a horse ride but it is available only till cafeteria which you will reach after an hour of hike. But hiking ourself is good though. At cafeteria you get tea coffee milk biscuits. You can fresh up here before continuing the hike . Even lunch is available here which is a simple vegetarian thali with rice dal sabji salad. Many people get tired by the time they reach the cafeteria and discontinue the hike, which is good to avoid and health problem later. After reaching up enjoy the scenic beauty at the height.Hike in a group is fun. You get to click a lot of beautiful photographs but be careful...

Most sacred pilgrim in Bhutan 🇧🇹 for Buddhist all around the world. Blessed and sanctified by Guru Padmasambhava in 8th century, it is venerated for the accomplishment attained through practice of Vajrakilaya with consort Yeshi Tshogyal and consort Tashi Khyendril who manifested into fearsome pregnant tigress to escort them to very place hence falling the name 'Tiger's Nest'. 1st small temple was built in 1503, subsequently in 1694 Desi Tenzin Rabgay built as per the command of Zhanbdrung Ngawang Namgyal. There are total 9 temples, out of which tourists are allowed to visit only 8. Majestically perched on vertical cliff 900 meters above Paro valley, it is breathtaking experience to reach the temple after 2 hours of sheer devoted walking, making it all worth it.
