In November 2024, we took a 20-day trip to Bhutan with the Wild Nature Quest agency (2 people).

The aim of our trip was to cross Bhutan from east to west, to visit as many places of religious, architectural or historical interest as possible, and also to discover the magnificent landscapes Bhutan has to offer.

From the very first contact, we could immediately sense the professionalism of this agency, led by Mr. Norbu: excellent local knowledge, well-informed advice, and quick responses to inquiries.

Trust was quickly established.

At the end of our discussions regarding the itinerary, we received a very detailed documentation with photos.

On-site, the services exceeded our expectations, whether in terms of accommodation, food quality, vehicle comfort, or, most importantly, the professionalism of our guide (Tshering). His perfect knowledge of history, geography, religion, wildlife, and flora, combined with his excellent interpersonal skills, made him the best guide we’ve ever had in any country!

The driver (Jamyang) was just as impressive as the guide: providing bottled water, snacks, and an exceptional efficiency in setting up picnic areas.

Bhutan is home to cultural wonders in an environment strictly protected by local authorities.

Upon returning home this week, I'm filled with gratitude for the excellence and kindness of my wonderful bird guide, Pema, and skilled driver, Om. With an eagle's eyesight, Pema would notice the flea on a monkey's eyelash in the dark! And as Om expertly navigated past large trucks on one-laned, ice-coated roads with sheer drop-offs and no guardrails, I never once felt unsafe! Tour agency founder and senior guide, Norbu, handled my pre-trip inquiries and trip arrangements (including obtaining my visa and airline tickets). He was also responsible for setting me up with these two wonderful men. We saw a total of 110 bird species in a week in what could be considered "off-season!" On top of the amazing birding, Pema identified gorgeous flora (only for a few trees or flowers did he "have to get back to me" with the name and always did) and spotted a Eurasian Otter, Assam Macaques, an Orange-bellied Squirrel, and a Himalayan Yellow-throated Martin. We visited spectacular temples (where I always felt welcomed), forts, and stupas, and stayed in exquisite resorts with fantastic views. We had a fascinating and unforgettable 8-day tour consisting of birdwatching, hiking and cultural activities with Wild Nature Quest. The owner, Norbu, was prompt in the leading communication prior to our tour, and made us feel at ease. He streamlined the whole process of visas, hotel bookings, all meals, tickets to cultural sites - everything!

Upon arrival in Paro, Tshering (guide), and Jamyang (driver) were already waiting to show us their beautiful country. They always had a friendly demeanor and positive attitude. Tshering was extremely knowledgeable about birds, history and Tibetan Buddhist religion. He never ceased to surprise us with his vast knowledge. Jamyang was an experienced and careful driver who also provided thoughtful support throughout our trip (we already miss the impromptu tea services he improvised, sometimes in the most unlikely places!) We felt so relaxed about being driven around in Bhutan compared to our experience in India. Overall, we loved our 8-day tour and could not imagine a better guide and driver.
