Uturunku — Local services in Municipio San Pablo de Lipez

Quite easy to get at 6000m (6012m) here. However, a licensed local guide is required. Ours was over 80 years old! With a robust jeep you can drive up to about 5600m. With good acclimatization and a slow pace, you should be able reaching the summit. A little bit of oxygen or coca from the guide will definitely help. We started around 6:30 and took about 2.5 hours for the ascent in the group. The top was very windy and cold (felt -15C). Unfortunately hardly any sun, so the view was poor but it is beneficial anyway to descend to deeper...

The so-called "guide" has taken over the control of the road to the mountain and will ask incredible amount for their forced service while being rude. They do not let you explore the area independently without their "service"

E' un grande vulcano alto poco più di 6.000 metri. E' conosciuto anche come il più facile seimila da salire con difficoltà elementari dal punto di vista tecnico; la quota comunque non è da sottovalutare; l'abbiamo ammirato in diverse ore del giorno, anche la sera, recandoci in visita alla meravigiosa Laguna Celeste.
