There's a lot of hype about this place before we came here. It's about an hours drive from Gweta. The name appears misleading as we hardly saw significant numbers of birds. The only ones we saw were sandpiper, ducks and about 5 pelicans far out from the shore. One pelican made a fleeting appearance near the shoreline but not enough for decent photos to be taken. However, we saw heaps of wildebeest on the salt pan. The place is not busy. There are a few raised lookouts near the lake for spotting wildlife. The winds can be pretty strong here with the flat landscape, hence you may need a jumper. Entry fee is payable. With bird migration, bird populations here are perhaps seasonal.

Absolutely stunning! Nata Bird Sanctuary offers breathtaking views and a serene environment, making it a must-visit for nature lovers. While the birds were absent today as the rainy season hasn’t started, I enjoyed spotting zebras, wildebeests, ostriches, and other small animals. Raw nature at its best and a true gem in Botswana!

Amazing views of the salt pan, unlike any other landscapes. Saw wildebeest, ostriches, jackals, flamingoes and many birds. Didn't get to see the sunset, but the cloud formations were awesome. Well worth the visit!!!

If you’re a fan of camping and love the outdoors, wide open spaces, this is a worthwhile option for you. The tents are clean and well maintained, the staff is friendly, of course you can bring your 4x4 and enjoy long drives in the pans for bird watching and overall relaxation, some wildebeest, foxes, Zebras and Ostriches can be spotted as well,...
