My experience at Foz do Iguaçu Airport was frustrating and disappointing. There is an initial scanner checkpoint where no issues were raised, but at a second scanner, I was suddenly told that I couldn’t take one of my personal products through , even though it had already passed through security in other Brazilian airports without any problem.
Why isn’t this addressed from the beginning? The process felt disorganized, inconsistent, and lacking any clear communication. It created unnecessary stress, wasted time, and left me feeling completely mistreated. This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me in Brazil, and it raises serious concerns about how these situations are handled and what actually happens to the items that are taken away. At best, it's poor management. At worst, it's suspicious.
On top of that, the bathrooms smelled terrible, the dining tables were dirty, and overall, the airport was poorly maintained. It’s unfortunate and unacceptable that such a chaotic, unclean and unwelcoming place is the last stop for many tourists in a region as beautiful as this.
As a final memory of my trip, all I was left with was stress and discomfort. It was truly a horrible experience, and I hope serious improvements are...
Read moreI got off the plane to go to the Argentinian side of the falls. In a taxi, it took literally 5-8minutes to get to the border. It is THAT close. It's not as far as it feels on the map. And then we got out to stamp out of Brazil. I went the Wednesday after carnaval (March 6) so they said I had just missed the carnival crowd so getting across was quick. Anyway, back to the subject of the airport...when j landed at 930am there were lines everywhere..lines to get bags, lines for the car rental, lines to exchange money, lines for people going through security, and then the ATMs are all the way in the back, they're not in the rain area. I did use the ATM and it was 24 reais fee to withdraw. The only reason I got cash was because I didn't know if the taxi drivers take card or not. That was a question I was trying to get answered before coming so yeah 😒But my taxi driver did take card. I did ask (before coming ) if Foz had Uber but I got a few yes and no answers. I flew into Foz March 6 and was leaving the very next morning at 5am so the quickest transportation option (taxis waiting outside) was more...
Read moreEverything in this airport is over priced. If you try and withdraw money from the ATM just outside the gate, it will cost you $40 reals, plus another $60 reals for some extra charges that are not very clear in nature. I come from Canada so I know my money is worth a lot more, but even then, $100 reals ($35 CAD) for withdrawing money at an ATM is an abuse. To make matters worse, taking a cab from the Iguaçu airport in Brazil to Puerto Iguazu in Argentina (yes, you are crossing a country, but is only 5 miles away) costs $120 reals ($42 CAD). A total RIP off, and a terrible experience. I am never flying again to this airport. By comparison, at our hotel in Argentina a taxi would charge us $600 Argentinian pesos ($22 CAD) for the same trip. Very shady practices by the airport authorities that only put the reputation of their airport in a very bad shape. This as of...
