This half-day private group hike in Tijuca was one of the highlights of our trip to the beautiful Rio de Janeiro. My fiancée and I were a part of a very small group led by the wonderful Renata. We got to see Rio from a completely different perspective, high up in the hills of Tijuca. It was fantastic! If you’re still thinking about booking this, no need to think too hard. Do it! You will be happy you did.

Here’s a short description of our trip so anyone who’s reading will have an idea of what to expect:

Renata picked us up directly from our hotel. Due to the weather conditions, Jungle Me sent a message via WhatsApp and email the night before and about an hour before pickup to let us know what the plans were for the trip. Make sure to keep track of your email and WhatsApp and stay in constant contact. We picked up our other group member and were on our way. Renata made sure to have a plan A and plan B in case the weather affected our route. Because of Renata’s determination and grit, we were fortunate enough to do plan A, and it was wonderful! We hiked up, met an incredible group of people who were involved in maintaining the trail and providing services up there. We learned a bit about Brazil’s history, the plants and trees along the trail, and we saw some animals. We ate lunch, took pictures, and just had a great time.

I decided to book this tour with no hesitation and the hiking difficulty was very manageable.

Riccardo was a brilliant guide and did not fail to share all his knowledgeable facts about the history of the forest, the caves and surrounding plantations before we got started and during the actual hike. Riccardo gave enough time beforehand to ensure all hiking gear was substantial and also offered to take photos during trip.

As the grounds were quite damp and slippery on the morning of the walk, Riccardo was very patient on the more challenging parts of the route. He also pre-warned me well in advance on the areas where more focus was required so I knew what to expect and felt really safe at all times of the journey.

There were plenty of opportunities and time given to sit by the refreshing waterfalls, dip your feet into fresh waters and simply enjoy the nature of the forest which was definitely the highlight of the trip. I would highly recommend this trekking adventure to appreciate and experience Rio's natural gems. A Fantastic Hiking Experience in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro offers a variety of activities for travelers, and if you’re looking for an active adventure, don’t miss the chance to explore its natural beauty. We chose a hiking tour with Jungle Me, and our guides were Ricardo and trainee Luiza.

We had an amazing time hiking through Tijuca Forest National Park, surrounded by breathtaking nature. The hike was uphill and quite challenging at times, but everyone managed to keep up. As a reward for our efforts, we got to experience the stunning flora and fauna of the forest. The views from the viewpoint over Rio de Janeiro were absolutely spectacular.

A special highlight was the cool cave and refreshing waterfall, which provided the perfect way to unwind after the hike. The photos we took during the tour have already impressed our friends on Instagram!
