WOW! If I could give 10 Stars I would, and I want to explain why.
Firstly, I want to say not only are the views the initial draw to this course, however, itâs the staff and service that will have you wanting to come back.
This review is going to get into detail but I think itâs important to highlight these things. Iâm not sure if thereâs a really good hiring manager looking for key characteristics or a super good leadership team teaching certain skills, but the staff are exceptional.
When I arrived at the course, I was greeted by a young, professional and energetic young man, he happily said good morning, asked to grab my clubs then politely told me where to park and explained where to go to and said my clubs will meet me there. Right off the bat thatâs a great start (this was 7 in the morning so I was definitely impressed with how switched on this kid was) after parking I went into the pro shop where two staff members immediately greeted me and helped me check in. They welcomed me to the course, gave some directions and sent me on my way. When I went outside, there was about 4 staff busting their asses getting carts ready, not in a chaotic way but very professional and with a purpose. My cart was sitting there, with my clubs and items already in it ready to go. A staff member was standing waiting to greet me, showed me some directions and sent me on my way. Now, hereâs where one of my favourite parts comes in. At every course Iâve been to, whether itâs private or public, most groups crowd the first t-box, which Iâve always found a bit annoying and it makes you feel rushed and nervous. Well, I didnât think anything of that and just figured that was standard in golf until the other day when I golfed Kananaskis for the first time. As you head to the first t-box, youâre stopped at a little shack about 100 yards back. Here, youâll be greeted by a starter who in the best way possible tells you about the course. I found this part great, I really wish I remembered the gentlemanâs name but he introduced himself, welcomed us all to the town and gave us a quick little history of the course and surrounding mountains (the two courses are named after these) and I thought this was a very cool and relaxing way to start the round. Once the group infront of us Teed off and approached their second shots, is when he finally let us go and head towards the t-box, this process allows you to relax and feel comfortable on the first shot, away from the other groups who might eagerly trail you at other courses. As the round continued, a quick couple friendly interactions with the Marshalls were then followed up by the staff at the end of the round. As I approached the pro shop, what seemed like an army of employees was waiting for each player to return to assist them. This time another young man helped me, he grabbed my clubs, washed each one off and then put my head covers on, all while keeping a good conservation and asking about my round. From start to finish, this course gave exceptional service and I strongly believe they focus on the guest experience and it shows. I can not speak more highly of each and every staff I saw working.
I donât think I need to explain too much about the course, but it was also incredible, beautifully maintained, and the views are world class. I strongly believe this is a top 5 course in Canada. My biggest regret was not staying to enjoy a nice meal on the balcony afterwards. I canât wait to come back! You also canât beat the price!!
Kudos to you and your team and thanks for the...
Read moreGolfed here yesterday. Beautiful course, pretty well maintained and the best scenery you could ask for for a round of golf. As a person who enjoys golf and being in the mountains I thought this would be the perfect place for my bachelor party. How ever management of the place is something to be desired. The marshals harassed us on two occasions for petty reasons to say the least. 1) For "being way too slow" we were told to keep the group ahead of us in sight to keep pace. Which we did except for like 10 minutes at the start of the back 9 and we caught up by the 11th hole and we were confronted at the start of the 10th hole. So an obvious exaggeration over a petty small potatoes gripe. 2) There are counteractive rules where they want you to keep pace. How ever these rules prevent you from driving the cart to your ball in the most direct and efficient way possible. Which makes pace of play slow down. ie, only drive to your ball at right angles from the cart path and return to the cart path immediately. 3) On hole 11 the other two in our group were harassed my the marshal because they drove on the grass with the golf cart, even though the sign posted in the golf cart did not forbid driving on the grass on that particular hole. The marshal came and made a big deal about it for 5 minutes slowing down our pace of play even further even though we pointed out it was not listed on the sign in the cart. After he told us it wasn't a big deal even though he made a big deal over a petty "misunderstanding" lets say. 4) Lastly they should have maps printed out on score cards of each hole or at least have them posted at each hole so you have a better idea on where to hit your ball. I don't blame the marshals for fulfilling there job description whatsoever. I believe the issue lies with poor management creating poor policies in order to slow down pace of play and creating a pressured/uncomfortable, un-pleasurable and rushed experience for the golfer. Will probably not return. Not worth the money to have lousy customer service via management, and be harassed for petty issues created by poor management policies. Everyone else we found to be pleasant from the pro shop staff to the starter and snack...
Read moreBeautiful views but extremely bad management of the course. For the amount you pay this was a huge disappointment. We had a tee time for 2:42 for August 16,2023. Did not get out till just after 3 because of construction for those coming from Calgary. Thatâs great that you tried to accommodate them but what about your customers that arrived on time. We waited on every hole sometimes 3 foursomes behind us. No control. Round took just over 5.5 hours we missed our dinner reservation. I tried to talk to the manger for some refund said they were not there but assured me they would call first thing in the morning. No call. I called 4 times the next day. I was simply told manager too busy maybe they will call me in a few days. Terrible terrible for this pricey course. Played Stewart Creek today 100% better go there instead. Kananaskis you need to be better with managing your course!!!!! UPDATE - in regards to the managers review below - he simply emailed this response to me - he did promise a call back but I received this instead. We are a couple that used points for a hotel stay so we could save money to experience this course - While the manager states our time to golf here he neglected to include the almost 1/2 hour delay in our tee time as well - our tee time was 2:42 and we were returning the cart at 8:15 trying to rush to get some dinner before 9:00 at the restaurant - I agree with everyone on here beautiful course so unfortunate that this is what they believe customer service is - end of the day this one review does not matter to them and does not affect them in anyway - I am simply including it here for information on how this situation...
