Exciting views, lovely locals, birds sing all day, lots of wild life, lovely local people, always sorry to leave, Hi Renaldo, I hope you find this letter helpful. It is an honest account of how we feel about your hard work and sensitivity to the hundreds of visitors and locals that cherish your true friendship and hospitality. Your are the "host with the most" the Lakowski's

Hornby Island Trust I'm writing to let you know how important the Ford's Cove General Store is to my family. Every year we look forward to our precious time on the island. We have been coming up for a 2 week stay over the past 34 years and before that with my foster parents in the late 60's early 70's. You may know the feeling of belonging that we get when we see that the store is there to welcome us. Our 2 boys are young adults now and are still coming up from the city with us. There is always an air of excitement when we first see the store. My husband has had a back injury that has changed our outlook on vacationing. I was so pleased to see that the store has put in a ramp for the disabled, my husband will likely become more limited over time. This allows him to be independent so he can get his coffee and chat with the locals in the early hours as a start to his daily vacation routine. We save up all year for this 2 week yearly refresh. We don't bring much with us and we spend all we have to buy local and support the economy while we are here. We appreciate having the choice of where to shop. The Co-op can be expensive and the FC general store carries most of our needs and we eat at the little eateries a lot, it's part of the fun. A couple of years back it was terrific to see the windmill was up and running. It's so awesome that the store has it's quaint general store feeling with the progressive eco friendly attitude. My first real life experience with conservation, recycling and refusal to excess packaging was on this Island. Unlike the city where people talk about it, here it's a way of life. I have noticed a lot more solar panels going up around the island and am pleased to hear that the store is going to do the roof. This sets such a great example for the next generations about being self sufficient and working with less. This is definitely part of the conversations the kids are having about Hornby and general lifestyles To us the store is an essential service, easy access to providing necessities, a meeting place to connect with local islanders and visitors, and a real life example of how a business should be sensitive to social and environmental sustainability. Thank you for all your considerations to the FC General Store and the fact that it is grandfathered into the community as an essential service to the locals and visitors and future generations who are and will be so in love with this...

This is my families happy place! We have been camping there for 5 years. It is the perfect place to reset and create family moments that will last lifetime’s. The people that run it are more than amazing. They become family! Renaldo's always so busy making sure the place runs smoothly and that people will have the most fulfilling Time and experience but always takes those moments to check in with the guests. Soliea (sorry if it’s spelt wrong) is the most amazing human in the store front. My children love you and so do we. The pizza at ford’s cove is not only affordable but it some of the best pizza we have ever eaten! Better and less expensive than Hornby pizza in our opinion. The restaurant is amazing and has a better view than most restaurants on earth. This camp ground has everything. The new showers are amazing. I hope they upgrade the sinks to match soon. The rock beach provides swimming areas for all levels and great caves to explore and sea life to observe! Do the island a favour and bring your own water in a 5 gallon jug because of you run out you can re fill it for cheap across from the store. The fords cove store is the most affordable store on the island for the essentials but the many farm stores and farmers markets provide great prices on fruits and vegetables. There is no reason to bring either to their island when you can but the best local! The camp ground is full of families that we look forward to seeing every year. Thank you so much for sharing this piece of paradise with...

I been coming to Hornby for many years and stayed at many different places on the island until I found Ford’s Cove, the best keep secret. Since then I been coming here with my family for the last 3 years and myself and the kids just love it. We always stay in the 2 bedroom cabins which are ocean view. The cottages are simple but have everything we need. One bedroom has 2 beds and one bedroom has a queen sizes bed. The kitchen has a large freezer/fridge combo, a stove and oven. The living room has a comfy couch that can be turned into a queen size bed as well. The cottages are always clean and they are constantly updating the cottages and the property. I say that because if you are looking at pictures that are updated here on trip advisor they are not up to date and do not reflect the cottages. Many of the pictures here don’t even exist anymore due to all the updates the new administration has done to all the buildings. ||One of the things that surprised me this year was how hard I saw the staff keeping up with all the new covid protocols, from the store, to the cottages, the campground and common areas. That made me feel safe. I saw them cleaning the cabin beside me and I noticed the cleaning staff sanitizing even the door handles as they walk away.||A shout out to the employees at Ford’s Cove for been always very nice and welcoming.||Can’t wait to get back...

Two bedroom cabin with sheets, blankets, and pillows sleeps family of five (kid ages 14, 11, 8) comfortably. We often camp but hauling all that gear somewhere during March break in BC when weather can be terribly unpredictable means a cabin is like staying in a 5-star hotel! Large deck, stand up shower with water hotter than my own house, full service kitchen with pots, pans, utensils, drip coffee maker (10 cup, bring your own filters), toaster, and microwave means more time enjoying the island and less time mucking about trying to feed everyone. We loved the partially covered deck, and the easily accessible waterfront area where kids spent hours exploring on their own for the most part. Kids love the marina store which has "penny" candies, and most food supplies anyone would need including fresh made pizza. Did I mention the DVD player and 50" flat screen (no cable), the Wifi and really friendly staff?

Our stay at the Ford's Cove Cottage was amazing! We wanted a ocean view but didn't want to camp due to the unpredictable weather on the island in the fall. Fords cove was I'd say the best price on Hornby, it has everything you need. Full kitchen with pots/pans and utensils etc., bathroom with toilet and shower. The view from the gorgeous deck or even the view from inside was amazing! We spent alot of time inside due to the rain but could still enjoy the ocean view from in the cozy warm cabin. The convenience store has everything you need if you forgot something, and the restaurant above that has good food with a beauty view! I highly recommend Ford's Cove for their cottages if your thinking of going to the island!
