The Sunshine Coast is a 180 km stretch of paradise that’s tucked into the southwest corner of mainland British Columbia. The shoreline stretches from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound and is accessible only by ferry, boat, or plane. Known for its rugged coastline, beaches, waterfalls. lakes, trails, and parks - it is an outdoor enthusiasts dream vacation! While most visit in the summer to enjoy swimming, sun, kayaking, and even scuba diving - the fall is also a stunning time to enjoy the coast (and get the place all to yourself!) Here are details on our itinerary: 1. We took the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. It's about 1 hr long and offers fabulous views as well as indoor seating and a cafe/restaurant if you get hungry. 2. After the beautifully scenic drive up the coast we started our journey in the North in the town of Egmont a jumping off point to some of BC's most dramatic landscapes and wilderness. The cozy cabin pictured is at @backeddyresort nestled along a remote shoreline, and the perfect jumping off point. 3. We hiked the famous Skookumchuck Narrows to see the tidal rapids (one of the whitewater wonders of the world!) - we made sure to check the tides and head there exactly at the peak, this happens only 2 times - day. 4. To eat we headed back to the @backeddyresort where they have a gorgeous but laid back pub. We ate scallop ceviche and seafood stew and would highly recommend both! 5. From the property at @backeddyresort we were able to take in the views, watch the boats roll in and out, and enjoy the beautifully moody fall weather. 6. Lastly we made a cozy fire in our cabin and recharged. These are just a few of the many incredible things to do here on the Sunshine Coast. Follow along as we continue to explore!

Before going to the narrows, take a look at what time the tides will change/happen! Time your visit accordingly to make the most of it :) The trail is pretty straightforward and has a very light incline. There are plenty of starfish and other animals on the way, make sure to stop and take inventory of all the beauty! There are two places to stop and take a look at the narrows. The north view had a slightly better view of the whirlpools but definitely worth checking both out.

So you have to walk about a km through private property before you hit the Provincial Park boundary. This is a decent hike 7km total in/out. However, if you go to Roland's point that adds about another km and is more intermediate level. We had to walk under fallen down trees in some part for that km. North point is much easier and gives a better view of the Whirl pools, and Roland point gives a better view of the Tidal rapid and marine life.

Very pretty hike! But I would error on the side of caution, it’s definitely not a hard walk but i wouldn’t classify it as an easy or beginner trail. It may be a bit challenging if you are not super active or if you have young children. Saw some toddlers in there and I can imagine it took a really long time! It’s pretty straight going into 2/2.5 K in ( until the lake) and after you get to the lake it goes uphill gradually and after the split in the trails the Roland point has quite a few steep parts with lots of tree roots and rocks. Really cool once you’re ag the end, people surf the wave...
