Awesome hike, great for dogs! The trail begins with approximately 2 km through a forested area, followed by another 2 km in a more open, exposed section filled with beautiful wildflowers. Along the way, you’ll come across a charming old cabin, with the final stretch being about 0.5 km to the top. It took us about 1.5 hours to reach the summit and another 1.5 hours to return, hiking at a moderate pace with photo stops along the way. The trail is very well-marked with plenty of signage throughout. At the top, you’re rewarded with stunning 360-degree panoramic views—absolutely worth the effort. It’s also a fantastic trail for birdwatching. We spotted four new species, including an Orange-crowned Warbler, Hermit Thrush, Townsend’s Warbler, and a Red-eyed Vireo. Highly recommend this hike if you’re in the area and looking for a beautiful, rewarding half-day adventure!

We have skid, hiked and biked Red and love it every time! It’s a big mountain and very close to Rossland, which makes it a convenient trip with all the amenities you need nearby. We love the openness to having dogs offleash on the trail and met so many kind folks!
