(In review of the minigolf exclusively)
It is with unwavering heartfelt regret that I reccommend this mini-golf experience to you and your family.
There was just something in the air (later determined to be poop) on that fateful day when our family quietly entered this 18 course golfing arena through the broken gate north of the visitor centre.
The word disrepair is tossed around all to often these days, but let me assure you, that this course will disrepair its way into your heart.
The staff was kind enough to supply our right-handed family with a couple of left-handed putters resembling a tree splitting wedge welded onto metal rods. After a few puts with these hulking monoliths we decided to exchange them for a pair of their lithe any-handed counterparts.
Quickly scanning our sorroundings we were pleased to see multiple empty coolers and corona bottles lively strewn about the premises. This played a part in actively redefining the haute mini-golf landscaping us city folk had become accustom to.
Luckily the loose fre-form landscaping challenged us, as the course was about as difficult as a peanut butter sandwhich, and equally as impressive visually.
When we arrived at the 15th course we were greeted by a rock in the middle of our challenge. Finally, an obstacle we cried in joy! The joy didn't last long though as 15 was also complete with a strong downwind sewage smell. It was here where we decided this was no ordinary mini-golf. Long beach golf course sure knows how to create a full-fledged sensory difficulty experience. Should difficulty alone be defined by the put? No, this course was also redefining our definition of challenge.
As we passed the poop put zone, we began to notice that the numbers designating the course were dissapearing to the vines and shrubs that sorrounded us. If the course itself did not challenge you, the thrill-of-the-hunt for your next number surely will.
One word of caution from one thrill-seeker to another though, the bench that sits near the centre of the arena is not for the feint of heart, as chunks of wood spill from it, and it lilts to the side, barely able to sustain its own weight.
As we neared our final challenge, we had to clear the field of debris before we could begin. The bin lid that the balls would fall into upon completion, was turfed into the centre of the course.
If i can conjour up any words to descibe Long Beach Golf Courses mini-put experience, it would be... Daringly Unkempt.
Too often do we have to experience courses that try to maintain any semblance of dignity, tidyness, sanitation, or for that matter, attention. Luckily for us, this was not one of those puts.
5/5 would...

Was in Tofino for a friend’s wedding. We wanted a to get 9 in before the ceremony later that day.
Customer service:
Arrive early to tee time, shop service attendant young blonde guy seemed to be half asleep and just rude overall. Sorry we are here? We were in a great mood (wedding day) and being respectful. Not like we came in hammered. Everyone was sober ready to have a relaxing time. It was I believe 9am tee time, arrived early and always treat service workers with respect.
Price:
Most expensive 9 holes I’ve ever played $100+ plus $30 (also charged per person I think) more for a cart with smoked cigars and garbage still in the drink holders and cubbies. It smelled but didn’t realize till I went to grab something I tossed in there.
Oh also one of the carts ran out of gas on hole 3 or 4 and the group had to push it back to the clubhouse.
How did our friend at the golf shop handle this you ask? He said, Oh…. you should have called me… that’s it. Did not apologize and tried to make us feel dumb for his lack of doing the basic job of cleaning and fueling the carts.
Course: Canada is green Everywhere! How is the grass in such poor condition? It was a funny joke that made us all laugh at how horrible this experience has been so far but how much worse could it get?
Sure enough, it did! Because our lack of fuel in the cart, we did fall behind a bit for pace of play. Half the group continue to keep pace, the others pushed the cart back to get it refueled. THEN, jabroni at the golf shop tells us we aren’t keeping pace and to let some members play through. We are totally fine with that and wait.
Then these “members” come through and curse out my friend when we approaches to say we are letting them play through.
The rudest people I’ve ever met on a course. And the employee didn’t mention his mistake of why we got held up. Just told us to pick it up. We were in shock but just laughed at how ridiculous these people were acting.
It’s okay the “members” whiffed their drives as they cursed us under their breath when they walked away. Haha worth it!
Not all Canadians are chill and nice....
Read moreThe campground itself was nice and the bathrooms were honestly really good. Very disappointed by the staff however. Our first night we were pretty tired; didn't have a fire or hang out outside our tents at all. Instead we got ready for bed once we got to camp late that night and went to sleep just before 11pm. The next day we were away for the entire day and left a few belongings in our tent. We get back that night and I find the fly partially open on our tent with this passive aggressive note inside saying we caused a bunch of noise the night before when that wasn't the case at all (there was a noisy site a few sites over from us). I thought I'd show the staff on the way out incase one of their employees made a mistake. Turns out the lady I showed it to was the one who wrote it and she left these notes in multiple different tents; basically accusing all of us of being noisy "because she didn't know which site actually was loud." She was quite defensive about it and seemed to see no problem with touching our stuff and leaving the fly on our tent open. A couple minutes after I left, my wife was coming out of the washroom and overhead her laughing about us with the staff.
Like I said, nice campsite with good washrooms. But don't expect to be treated with much respect. And make sure to take all your belongings with you when you go out during the day...
