Mount Albert Edward is a spectacular hike. I never imagined such incredible beauty existed out in the middle of nowhere on Vancouver Island! I was with a group and we hiked from Circlet Lake to the summit and back in a day. I feel like photos don't do justice, because they don't capture all the smells and all the sounds of nature, and the Whiskey Jack birds that are flying around the whole time! You will be blown away by the awesome beauty of the mountain; I guarantee it. The lakes, the trees, the animals; all so beautiful. Make sure to go on a clear day because you'll actually be able to make it to the top safely, and then fully enjoy the 360 panoramic views. You can even see Mount Washington from the summit of Mount Albert Edward! I highly recommend this hike, and just make sure you make all the necessary preparations.

Absolutely awestriking to be “ on top of the mountain “ and walk past a tree line and be able to look around and see a bunch of other mountain peaks. Unfortunately I was still very much a beginner in hiking at the time I did that one and couldn’t make the last 20 minutes or so but was still so worth it.

Long hike. Went early July. Still lots of snow on peak and ridge. Snow and frost the night before. Bring crampons and poles to make walking less strenuous. Great views of Georgia Straight, Mount Washington and backcountry of Strathcona Park.

Pretty long for a day hike, but not terrible if you’re just starting from the Circlet Lake campground. We went during first week of August, and there was still some snow along the way. Nothing you’d need microspikes or snowshoes for, but good to have hiking poles, especially for the rocky bits. It was really hot and sunny when we went, and a large part of the hike is exposed, so it was good to be able to melt the snow and drink...
