Anytime of year Mt Becher is a worthy backcounty destination. From the lush green forest of summer to the snow capped peaks of winter there is someinthing for everyone.

Access is via the old Wood Mountain decommissioned ski hill with plenty of good parking at the end of a well maintained road. Once you hike up and out of the old ski hill area you enter the Forbidden Plateau area of Strathcona Provincial Park where Mt Becher lies.

The trail is full of history and watch for the very old CDMC club signs for trail markers along the way. Once at the summit the 360' degree views are amazing. Comox Glacier views are probably the best of anywhere on the island here and then over to Mt Albert Edward, Washington and even over to the mainland of Vancouver and beyond.

A must do easily accessed region of Vancouver Island for hiking, snowshoeing and back...

A Great day out with incredible views can be had by choosing a clear day and Driving up to the old Forbidden Plateau Road parking lot. Head straight up the hill picking up a flagged trail as you go. From there the trail heads into Strathcona park and winds is way ever upwards to Mount Becher.

Near the top you get to see over Paradise Meadows to Mount Washington, down into the Comox Valley, and across to the mainland.

This is great launching point for overnight camping if you head to McKenzie Lake, or a two-car switch hike with one vehicle at Mt Washington and one at the end of Forbidden Plateau Road.

We went in late August and had beautiful weather and wild blueberries...

We went on a cloudy misty rainy day so we didn't get as much of a view at the top but it was still worth it. Definitely felt accomplished afterwards. Took...
