We really loved our visit! They have amazing attractions, actors, and even a magician at the end of the night with a really fun and interactive live show. We went counter-clockwise throughout the park, had ample time to stop for some snacks (a very cold pretzel with warm cheese, but great candy apples, hot chocolate, and coffee) and relax a bit. We had time to visit all 6 attractions* without a fast pass before closing which was great! It took about 20 minutes in line on average to enter a single attraction, and then the time spent inside varied a ton between them all.
Good options for food but a bit pricey ($2.25 for water, $10 for a grilled cheese, $7 for a pretzel with cheese kind of vibe), so I’d really recommend to bring your own water bottle and maybe snacks if possible as the water is unsafe to drink there so you’d need to buy bottled water. Also gets very cold at night so bundle up and stay moving!
Special shout out to the actors in the maze and at the hay ride — really immersive and so terrifying/informative. All around excellent customer service from everybody there as well including cashiers, security, and actors, and I think it was genuinely the best customer experience I’ve had from start to end. It felt like everyone was happy to be there and loved what they’re doing, and that’s crazy considering the volume of customers they’re dealing with per night. I would definitely recommend this place, and if you’re choosing between this and Niagara or Halloween Haunt, this is an easy choice.
*one thing to note for others with a clown phobia — there’s an attraction specifically dedicated to clowns, obvious skip for me but the group visited it, and…
[Spoilers] there is also an actor in a clown mask on the bus in the zombies attraction, and then a few characters with clown-ish makeup (think Harley Quinn) as well occasionally spread throughout the park. No full blown clowns walking...
Read moreFear Farm is not a place to visit if you're expecting a good scare. The production quality is something that is impressive for a kitchener farm location, however the actual execution of the scares was quite awful. They are the Michael Bay of horror haunts, all production no soul.
First off, they pump people through as fast as possible, and while the line moving as fast as possible seems like a good thing initially, the result is catching up to the people before you and having the scares either completely spoiled or the actors not having enough time to get in position.
Secondly, they rely on cheap gimmicks for all 6 of the scares. Do you think chainsaws are scary? I imagine many do, but at Fear Farm it is a gimmick used in every single haunt, and trust me it becomes quite predictable and boring.
Thirdly, they advertise '6 haunts' but 5 of them operate in the exact same manner, with barely any creativity within them at all. The actors all dress in the same clothes, they jump out in the exact locations you'd expect, and there's no new ideas to be found in any of them.
The fourth serious issue I had with the place is that the 'haunted hay ride' is extremely boring. There is more filler (as in waiting for the scare spots and just mindless driving) than there is anything else to it. You sit and wait while you're driven around until you're driven to what looks like its finally going to be something (and spoilers its always the spots that look like its gonna be something) one actor does something quick, and its onto the next spot.
Would not go again. Reapers...
Read moreReally impressed with this place! There's 6 haunts - 2 outside walking, 1 hayride, and 3 indoor houses. As other reviewers pointed out - the hayride is pretty weak. A lot could be done to adjust it and make it a lot better, but oh well. The other haunts on the other hand were great! We went on a Friday night around 8pm which I'd assume to be busy prime time, but it was an ease to complete everything before closing time (even the escape room...side note: $5 a person). The most we waited for a haunt was probably 15-20 min and the great part of the experience was that they had a person at the entrance of every haunt to regulate the flow of people entering. So be warned! You will most likely be going through each haunt with just you and your group. The way they spaced everyone out was perfect and really allowed me and my friends to get a genuinely good scare.
They also have yummy sweets and treats as well as a food truck with fries/poutines. Oh, and there is a beer tent! Just make sure you bring your ID even if you're the sober one of the group - they check everyone. And for whatever reason, only a 2 drink maximum. As if everyone's tolerance is the same and smart serve doesn't teach you how and when to stop serving someone who's had too much.. 🙄
Nonetheless, I had fun. It was a good time. Special mention, not sure if it was a part of the experience or they just began performing near closing time spontaneously, but The Pyro Flys were incredible! Great performance and...
