My spouse and I went there for the food truck experience last night, as I had driven past it a few times and thought about supporting local. Our order was for 2 cheeseburgers, one french fry and 2 milkshakes. The total was $54. So we were expecting a $14 hamburger and we're totally disappointed. This hamburger was overpriced and underdelivered. Meat was so small that it was lost on the large bun. This was served dry, no extras on that burger like tomato, pickle, or lettuce, (something I might have expected from a vegetable farm location) condiments like ketchup, mustard, and vinegar were provided when requested but kept behind the counter. French fries were small for $5 but good. Menu was large but many items not available. When i asked about the beverages i was told i had to buy them in the market, yet they were on the menu board. I placed the pop near the burger to show the size of the patty. Barely larger than the circumference of the pop can. Not what I would have expected for a Saturday of a long weekend at supper time. We will likely not purchase from this food truck again....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a flat of strawberries from Thames River Melons for the first time last week and I so wanted to love the home delivery experience. Sadly I was very disappointed. There was no communication regarding a specific day/ time of delivery which was not a big deal since we are home all day usually. On the day they delivered the flat, they didnāt advise us in any way (didnāt ring doorbell!) that the flat was delivered. I went outside to throw the garbage at around 10a.m and saw the sad looking flat of strawberry sitting on my porch in the heatwave. The strawberries didnāt look good all! They were clearly past their prime: shriveled, soft and squishy. Not wanting to waste my $40 we tried our best to eat the most of them over the next few days but we had to throw out some. I regret not taking a picture, was not intending to post a review but Iām so disappointed by this experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love going to Thames River Melons! The farm is picturesque and perfect to bring folks who are not huge PYO people. They have hens, plenty play areas for kiddos and coming during sunflower season makes the fields extra beautiful.
I frequently buy their produce at my local market (the best rhubarb is theirs), but visit the farm every summer. They have the best raspberry picking to be found, the bushes are huge with easy picking. You can pick many other fruits and veg, but raspberries is what I come for!
If you are hungry, their farm truck makes delicious burgers and fries. A touch spendy but it's all fresh local...
