Worst experience ever! I made a reservation months ago for my husband’s surprise 50th birthday. I showed up at noon to decorate. The staff that was on had no idea where the party was so I could not decorate. She said I had to come back at 5pm when the manager was in. The party started at 6pm. I had pre-ordered food and drinks with the manager 1 day prior. I had been trying to reach the manager for weeks prior to solidly plans but she never called back. We showed up 45 minutes after our guests arrived. The beer and wine was not put out for our guests. The food table was shoved in a back corner with not enough plates, no napkins or serving utensils, I ordered more food an hour later. The appy platters took over 90 minutes and only had 3 chicken wings not 1/2 lb as claimed on the menu. Our guests ordered individual meals and they waited close to 2 hours. Most people canceled their orders and left without eating. The ones that did eat said their meals were horrible. The waitresses were extremely rude. There were 2 assigned to our party. When I asked for more beer and wine for the party the waitress barked at me and told me I had to order from my waitress. I was constantly running to the bar for wine glasses. When it was time for cake I could not get enough plates, forks and napkins. I had to run around to the waitress stations to raid them for supplies. After being billed at the end of the night the waitress approached me and said there was another bill that they forgot to add together. I was horrified the entire evening. I would not recommend booking a special event here! Unfortunately it was the worst experience ever and I have years of serving experience and...
Read more3 stars at best. And that's just for the service and food. Service was good, food was decent. However, this establishment is so outdated and old. First of all, the age demographic they seem to be leaning into is crazy to me. With the ambiance, music and look I would think an older crowd might like the atmosphere here but the stairs are so steep to get up there. The music played was 80s rock. They could use a few dehumidifiers, it was extremely damp in the restaurant, the wooden tables and chairs were so wet and sticky. The upholstery on the chairs is straight out of the 80s, old and worn out. Carpet is old and gross. The stage is carpeted and carried up the wall behind it. No keno or games. They had 4 servers on shift doing the absolute bare minimum. And there was 1 other table besides ours for a total of 4 guests. When we were leaving one other table of 2 arrived. Highly suggest to the owner invest some money and update the place, it is desprate for a facelift. At the very least get rid of the carpet and change the chairs out with new ones. The buffet downstairs at newlands was busy, but the pub was dead on a Friday at 6pm. Pretty pricey for a place this old and grungy. Oh and the menus are crumpled paper, at least laminate them. You can tell this place hasn't been touched in likely 2...
Read moreMr.A's Patio contential buffet was a culinary pinnacle. Michelin quality entrees, I loved the savoury Tandoori lamb, it was to die for. The succulent Teriyaki chicken, rich poached salmon and legendary Prime rib were shining stars at the contential Sunday dinner buffet ! The potato roasties were thee best I have ever noshed( and I have noshed a ton ). The fresh salads, fruit and charcuterie was a nice tasty touch. The decadent and classic desserts offered guranteed sweet satisfaction. The varieties of chocolate were copious, well worth the extra steps and cardio. I have dined on the standatds of the C.I.A., and Micheal Rioux and this was seriously on the same level. Kanishka, the busser and the host were outstanding and very attentive and did a superb job of looking after the patrons, so refreshing to be on the receiving end of ppl who dig their gig and strive to do their best job with pride and warmth. Back to the scrumtiousness,...the fresh ingredients, prepared with attention, detail and culinary skill and textbook standards are solely why Mr.A's patio buffets are the stuff of...
