Ryde Lake Camp — Local services in District Municipality of Muskoka

I was debating is I should leave this review, but decided to do so to help parents in the future to decide about this camp. The location is beautiful, no questions about that. The facilities (cabins) are mostly very old and worn down, the doors of the cabins are not locked for the night. The shower only two times a week, and for me it was huge break down, especially my girls was not given shower for three days on her P. days (!!!) when it was known to supervising staff, I can not imagine how in modern society it could happen, just unbelievable, when I knew that I totally lost my trust in the place. The meals as per girls are yummy, when in realty there are a lot of carbs with very little protein and veggies/fruits. On the positive note, the communication with the supervisor was effective and quick (that did not help to resolve the issue with the shower). The girls have many activities, most of the girls seems like adjusting well. My daughter first went to Ryde Lake Camp in 2009. She has been back every year since as a camper and then as staff. It’s her favourite place in the world. The friendships she has made from summer at Ryde have lasted for years. This camp is everything a summer camp should be. Franny the Camp Director is an amazing mentor and role model for all the young women who come to Ryde. I remember being so nervous when my daughter went away to overnight camp for the first time but I am grateful for finding Ryde Lake Camp all those years ago and giving my daughter the opportunity to be part of such an amazing experience. I go to Ryde for girls camp and let me tell you once you visit Ryde you will never want to leave Ryde has a great community of girls they make you feel welcome and right now there is a tear streaming down my cheek because I already have so many great memories there and I’ve only been there for two year I would like to thank Chip, bunny, topaz, bubbles, Shaka, Grover and most importantly Franny and Buffey thank you all for making my camp experience the best and Franny and Buffey if you see this I will make you a plaque next time I come just remind me love you all once again thank you call isn’t the same without you...
