Went to the fall festival with 2 kids aged 7 and 8. Well decorated from the entrance and throughout, parking attendants were helpful and friendly. Kids craft area is easy to book in advance and very well-run by the young ladies there. The prep they do for the crafts is so appreciated and makes it easy for kids of all ages to create. Tons for kids to do, lots of space to get their energy out and lots of games/maze/playground options. More porta-potties are definitely needed and they need to be serviced more frequently. There were maybe 6 or 7 available and half of them had no toilet paper. Mobile handwashing stations with proper soap and paper towels would be welcomed. There were very large holes in the ground where trees were dug out where people were walking through to get from the playground area to the entertainment tent. These areas should be roped off, they're an accident waiting to happen. Tons of mud and water and people pushing strollers through it. Not sure why that area is accessible. Where they really have dropped the ball (two years running) is with the food and beverages. I thought with them adding their own snack shop this year things would be different but that wasn't the case. The Rusty Rake caters to the wine and cheese types. The lineup was ridiculous to order and another line to wait to pick up your order. Food is overpriced and very little caters to families or kids. A $9 gourmet breakfast sandwich or a charcuterie box aimed at adults isn't helpful when you're trying to feed kids at the same time. There was one food truck on site that was out of food before 130pm and then closed at 3pm. They were serving drinks only from 130pm onward. There were 2 young kids running a small BBQ and selling $5 hotdogs that were at the most worth $2 or $3. The same girl was handling money and food with no gloves or any sanitary practices. She took my cash and then used her bare hands to grab a bun and hand me a hot dog. No napkins to be had. Gross and overpriced. I understand that the fall festival is maybe 4 to 5 weeks per year, but they really need to step it up and have more food options for kids/families during the fall festival weekends. With the amount of people there today there could have easily been 4 or 5 food trucks. They need to consider coffee/hot chocolate, lemonade, pastries, ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, kid-friendly fare like grilled cheese or pogos, juice boxes, snacks. A proper hot dog cart (or 2!) with other options and more reasonable prices. The lack of food is astounding. If you're marketing multiple events aimed at kids, have kid food options. We left early to go and eat elsewhere. We didn't get a chance to shop as the kids were too hungry. I waited in line for awhile to order $5.50 smoothies to tide the kids over but lost my patience when the line didn't move for ten minutes. I also wasn't about to order food for myself when there wasn't anything for the kids to eat.
We will return next year but will pack a full picnic. The lost potential food revenue is...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a pumpkin patch that feels like it’s straight out of a Halloween dream, Sandhill Nursery's Pumpkin Fest is where it’s at! The pumpkins here are so perfect they almost look suspicious… like they might start floating once the sun goes down. 🎃 The giant, colorful umbrellas are the perfect pop of whimsy (and shelter for any flying witches 😜). It’s a Halloween wonderland for kids and adults alike, with fun photo spots and decorations that’ll have you snapping pics at every turn.
The kids' play area is a huge hit—pumpkin bowling and pumpkin basketball kept everyone laughing (and trying to beat their best scores). For the adults, the bar and restaurant were a great spot to relax and recharge with some tasty fall-themed treats and drinks. And don’t miss the farm market! It’s packed with seasonal goodies, fresh produce, and plenty of fall decor to take home. We had a blast and left with a car full of pumpkins and smiles. Highly recommend for a...
Read moreWhat a fantastic place! My first visit to Sandhill was during their Fall Fair. It's been around the corner for 17 years and never visited. I will be back regularly. The Fall Fair was nothing short of fantastic! As I drove down the laneway I was in awe of the amazing displays their team put together. A testament to the talent and time they put into this season. The displays throughout the fall fair were just as amazing - an afternoon enjoyed with music, food, beer, games and shopping! What more could one ask for? Such amazing talent on display and the money raised for the Huntsville Hospice shows the heart behind the business. What a great destination to get you in the spirit of the season - looking forward to visiting for Christmas and future...
