Our second time eating at Hungry Bear BBQ and it has quickly become a favourite of ours! This is a classic mom and pop type restaurant that is open Friday - Sunday. The inside is cozy, with small diner ambiance. The draw to this place is the food, and the staff. Always friendly, courteous and seem to really love what they do! Recommend the platter for first time goers to enjoy a bit of everything from the menu- the pulled pork and brisket were very flavourful! The wings were crispy and well seasoned. The sausages were crisp-skinned and juicy. The sides were also delicious as well- the Mac and cheese with bacon is very savoury and rich and compliments well with the mains. We enjoyed the beans as well and we’re not been people. It felt like it just melts in your mouth. Excited to try more items on the menu! They also do catering which would be a big hit with family get togethers and celebrations!

The Hungry Bear is on Frances St. It's in the former Smokies Barbecue. They Carolina BBQ. We tried the sampler platter. That came with brisket, pulled pork, sausage and chicken wings. The wing where legs not wings. That being said it was all delicious. Now the legs instead of wings are probably due to a shortage of wings. But they might have been the highlight of the platter. So good they should probably just serve them all the time! The sides are mac and cheese, beans and coleslaw. The mac and cheese was a little dry but had great flavour. If they mixed a little cheese in them before serving they may just be perfect. Beans full of pulled meat and delicious. The coleslaw a little lack luster. Fries and gravy fresh cut and good. Would recommend!

The food is great with decent portions. We got the platter for the two of us, and we had plenty of leftovers. The ribs were substituted for chicken wings as they had run out. Quite honestly, the ribs were the best thing we tried. I didn't care much for the Mac and Cheese as the noodles were overcooked, but no other real complaints. I highly recommend giving this place a shot if you love BBQ! We will absolutely return. One thing to note is that the seating is really limited inside, and the patio setup is some old weathered picnic tables. If this isn't for you, you can always order for pickup.

So where to begin, there is lots of room for improvement. If you like BBQ food and have tried Lancaster BBQ in Kitchener that's what I'm gauging this place off of. First off I ordered a brisket sandwich and a side of pulled pork with the Mac and cheese, I got the Mac and cheese but 2 pulled pork, accident happen, thats all good. The pulled pork is juicy but lacks any real smoke flavor, or BBQ flavor. The BBQ sauce basically tastes like kraft BBQ sauce. The pulled pork needs to be seasoned more than what it is. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was powdered cheese or something and the noodles were a bit too mushy for my liking, again not seasoned enough. The cole saugh was fresh but didn't have enough mayo. When I went into the restaurant to pick up the food the fries did look good. For the price I wouldn't really recommend it, im sure with a few changes it could be a solid 4 stars for food. The atmosphere is nice inside, it's small, the server was nice, I did give her a tip even though I just picked up the food. Again I'm judging this place off of Lancaster Smokehouse in Kitchener. In my opinion the best and most affordable BBQ place in southern...

This is THE barbecue place for London! A real gem.

We usually order pulled pork sandwiches and a pound of the must-try brisket to share as a side. Nobody does mouthwateringly tender pulled meats like these folks. We like trying the specials, too, because they're always doing something delicious!

Tonight we tried the crawfish boil, and it was seasoned to perfection. The crawfish were perfectly cooked--even the delicate little shrimp were perfect, and not rubbery.

If you want a barbecue place that knows sauces, spices, and how to turn their meats into something really special, this is your go-to spot. I recommend it to loved ones all the time, because they are doing it right.

The owner is a really incredible man who goes above and beyond; he makes sure everyone enjoys the best meal possible, and pours his whole heart into what he's doing here. The staff are friendly, and the whole team makes it really special. I hope we're enjoying Hungry Bear for decades to come....
