Nearly all of my visits to Gold Bar Park are confined to the off-leash dog trail, which I use a few times per week year-round, so this pertains to the off-leash trail:

It's really nice; it has a few picturesque areas, lots of side trails for the dogs to run, and a good variety of wildlife to happen upon. It is a shared use trail so in addition to dogs there will also be people running and cycling on the trail; mutual courtesy is expected.

A few notes: It's not fenced. There is wildlife in this area: beavers, coyotes, birds of prey, waterfowl, etc. It is a shared use trail, expect runners, cyclists, and the occasional motorised scooter user, and of course dogs running off leash. It is unpaved, uneven, and there are some hills. It gets muddy, and it gets icy. The trail is well sheltered from the wind, which is nice...

Gold bar park is a tucked way park east of the city. Aside from a distinct odor when arriving by car, its a generally relaxing, calm place during the week. Its a central park in the northeast area and connects other parks on the way to downtown. Paths are used for running and cross country skiing in the winter. Its not as busy as other parks. Ample space. IS NOT AN OFF LEASH PARK, but does have some off leash paths adjacent to it. There are some bbqs and ponds. And since this area is kind of tucked away you have less undesirables wandering around. There are indoor washroom facilities. Also bike trails and I have seen some people fishing too. If your here walking i suggest you cross the bridge to Rundle or make a longer trip to mutart or...

A great natural park that's part of Capital City Recreation Park system stretching from Southwest to Northeast through the North Saskatchewan River valley, Gold Bar Park being near the Eastern end of this continuous park system. In winter there are set Nordic ski trails and in the summer fine walking trails and duck ponds. There are large picnic sites that can be reserved as well as numerous smaller sites. One can connect by footbridge to Rundle Park on the north side of the river or to nearby Capilano Park to the west of 50th Street. There is lots of space for many people to enjoy without it feeling crowded. Gold Bar Park is a hidden gem...

Very peaceful. No luck catching fish here yet but I see a beaver almost every time.

Visit: December 2024 Love the park in the winter as well. Large open areas and a great place to do cross country skiing from what I've seen Visit: May 2023 Great park to visit. Lot sof green space, and connects to a lot of other parks such as Capilano Park and Rundle Park. There's a lot of green space, and a very nice Trail that runs by the river. It has a beautiful canopy of trees. There's also a spot that has dedicated washrooms which is nice.
