A.Y. Jackson Lookout and Onaping High Falls It's about 35 minutes from Sudbury on Highway 144 East.
There are three trails. For the more adventurous, you can climb down the rocky cascade and follow a somewhat challenging trail to get even closer to the falls. I wore Sketchers walking shoes, which weren’t ideal. Hiking boots would have been much better, especially since some rocks were slippery. Despite that, we chose this trail, and it was absolutely worth it. We followed the stream uphill and reached a higher point with an incredible view and the sound of fresh water flowing over rocks and branches. It was peaceful and rejuvenating.

We took our time, snapped a ton of photos, and the kids loved listening to the roar of the water from the viewpoint. It’s the kind of hike that feels adventurous without being hard—great for burning energy and making memories. Read moreI have always loved visiting this place as a child. It is a great way to spend the afternoon. There is an covered area were you can eat your lunch, with many picnic tables. There is public bathrooms located on site. Two viewing area to get great pictures of the falls and many walking trails that take you around the forest.
