Brought the family out to Cameron’s on Tuesday for the discount go kart day. The weather was a little iffy in the early morning. I called to confirm what their policies are for rain. The gentleman on the phone was super polite and explained if it’s raining, pouring and full on storm, and what would result in the track being closed. He mentioned that they had gotten quite the down pour earlier, but the track was re-opened but some of the seats may still be a little wet. We decided to take the trip before the next rain storm later in the day.
We arrive to buy the tickets/laps and are greeted by “Mrs Cameron”. Very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. My daughter, 11, was nervous about going out on her own for the first time. She helped calm my daughters fear of going by herself, and offered advice and took the time to talk with her to make sure she was comfortable.
I had came along with the hopes of going out on the track, with a previously broken arm still in a sling. I knew I may or may not be able to participate. The lady was extremely honest with me and said I might not have such a good time, since only being able to have one hand to drive a kart that has no power steering, and not to mention the bumpiness I would feel in the arm driving around the course. She was honest, and didn’t just “take my money” for the sake of making a sale of an additional 10 laps. This right here showed me they care about their customers, the safety but want you to be taken care of.
The rest of the family goes outside and gets sized for helmets by the staff. The staff finds you the appropriate sized helmet for a true fit, and ensures it’s worn properly and done up correctly as well.
The group goes out to the track, where the staff go over a safety briefing for the large group of drivers about to participate. They were very thorough in explaining to everyone the rules, safety and etiquette when on the course. As they helped buckle everyone in, they came back to my daughter and double checked that she was comfortable and feeling good before going out. They did a stop/go test with her, and several other newbies. And just like that...she was off and running.
Exceptional staff work here from the ticket counter, the helmet helper, the many staff out on the course, and the other amusement attractions as well. Everyone is helpful, smiling, and willing to help. Mrs Cameron even came out to see how my daughter was doing. (She did 4 of her 10 laps). She said she was a little overwhelmed for her first try, but wants to come back and keep trying!
Great day at the track. Great family run business. Can’t wait to come back...preferably next time without...
Read moreThis place will always have my business, my experience couldn't have been more great. We had planned a day trip with my neice and sister, but were very cautious about doing such a big activity with my neice Bella, because she has stage 4 autism, and doesnt always react well to waiting, or strangers. Our experience started great with awesome parking, and very quick service while purchasing our laps. Very clean restrooms, and I felt secure while using their facilities. When it came time for my family to go to the carts, the employees were very understanding about having an autistic child to deal with, and they were wonderful at making my neice feel comfortable and happy. The helmet attendant was great at speaking and communicating with Bella while fitting her helmet, and we cannot appreciate enough that he was a good, quick nice employee. While waiting for a cart, the young gentlemen was exceptional, calling my neice by her name, taking her hand while she got seated, and explained very well about what was happening with her safety harness. She enjoyed the large, well maintained track, and I believe the system they have going is the reason we were able to enjoy our rides so much. Very comfortable carts, wide and padded nicely. As a bigger person myself, these were very comfortable and easy to sit in. After every lap, you very quickly stop and let them mark off a lap, on a paper clipped onto your cart, so they can check howmany laps you've done. I was a little annoyed at first about having to stop and wait for them to mark your ticket, but it's so quick and easy that it actually made the experience enjoyable. The kids marking the papers are super quick and sweet. We would really recommend this place for families, and if your concerned about bringing any mentally delayed children, I recommend going around 2 to 3 pm, the line went in the blink of an eye, because with the lap marking system you dont have to wait for groups to finish. We will definitely be returning to Cameron Speedway, hopefully soon. 10 out of 10 for food and beverage options, all the favorites of fair food and also some veggie options. The pricing is pretty decent, I've been to places that charge an arm and a leg and dont have the same values as cameron speedway. Fun little add on is that thisbolace is right next to an air port, so low flying planes are super fun to watch while waiting. They'll fly...
Read moreKids wanted to take me go-karting for Father’s Day. Fun experience till the end. Parking wasn’t very well marked. Someone had parked behind me when they shouldn’t have, forcing me to drive forward to find an alternate exit. After I started moving forward, some older gentleman started yelling and swearing at me in front of my two kids. He identified himself as the owner Shane and said I couldn’t drive there, I tried to explain I was blocked in and that there was nowhere else to go. He continued his yelling saying it wasn’t his problem. I went inside the main entrance to try to find help and report his rude behaviour but he just stepped over the lady at desk and proceeded to say it wasn’t their problem. Recognizing that he or anyone there weren’t going to help me, I had to go back to my car and remove the rope fence by myself in a section unoccupied just so I could vacate this horrible place. If Shane is indeed the owner, please continue acting in this way so I can smile when your business closes down. My kids were appalled by your behaviour and I will never bring any of mine back here again. This establishment is not family friendly with owners swearing in front of kids and rather than recognizing/solving the problem, proceeding to act with vulgarity. For any potential future customers, do yourself a favour and go anywhere else for a fun time. Shane was clearly having a horrible Father’s Day but to take it out on paying customers….well…disgusting! I would zero...
