Elk Lake Wilderness Resort — Local services in James Township

TWO GIANT THUMBS UP!!! Our small group vacationed at "Elk Lake Wilderness Resort" in the last week of AUGUST 2021. Roger and Mary Jo (owners) treat you like Royalty from the moment you arrive! In fact, I think they wrote the book on customer service. And..., compared to other resorts/lodges we've vacationed at in NORTHERN, ONTARIO over the past 45 years..., you get a real "BANG-ON-THE-BUCK" at this vacation destination! In a nutshell..., the COTTAGES are super clean and spacious, right on the Montreal River...., a slow-moving deep blue thing of pure beauty!! The meals are absolutely delicious. (Their deep-fried chicken puts Colonel SANDER'S Kentucky Fried Chicken to shame!) With the full AMERICAN PLAN..., your breakfast is already stored in the fridge upon your arrival. Bacon (regular and thick slices of peameal) , eggs, home fries, cereal, bread, jams, real butter, sugar, sweeteners, milk, creamers, coffee, tea, orange juice and more!!) Pre-packaged lunches are FRESH and HUGE.... monster sandwiches, (ham-roast beef-egg salad-chicken-salmon), fruits, granola bars, veggies, bottled water, brownies, cookies, fresh grapes, etc., etc.). PONTOONS and boats are spotlessly clean new models with big horse-power engines. We travelled for MILES and MILES up the river one golden sunny day. The scenery was spectacular!! SUPPER is hand-delivered right to your cottage..., HOT and mouth-wateringly good. BBQ ribs, pan-fried fish, pasta, pork tenderloin, GREAT pizza and THICK BBQ steak...., HUGE portions with all of the extras! Important too..., is the fact that there is a ton of hot water for doing dishes and taking long showers. The water pressure is very good for this remote area in Northern, Ontario! In conclusion, Mary Jo and Roger - and - their staff (with their bubbling personalities), work very hard to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your vacation.
