Expensive. Disappointing selection. Expect lots of walking Big aggressive territorial dog DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR FAMILIES!
It was $16 per person which comes with a small 5lb bag for apple picking. The apples were not very tasty. Their Sweet Sixteen was sour and tart. Their Red Delicious was very dull and watery. The Crimson Crisp was fine - crisp and sweet but expect to do some walking as the apples near the front of the orchard were full of holes.
We walked about 10-15mins to the vegetable fields where a large unchained Rottweiler came charging at us and was barking very aggressively. We had a baby with us and wanted to take some photos in the pumpkin patch but couldnât - another family turned back and didnât bother getting close. My partner whoâs had dogs his whole life slowly approached to get a pumpkin and the dog would not let down. No one was around to stop the dog. We tried calling the farm to tell them, and no answer. As we walked back to the entrance, the dog followed us through the forested area until we were basically herded back to the front. Spoke to a staff member who gave us some nonchalant answer that the dog isnât even theirs and belonged to a neighbouring farm.. and that it doesnât bite so shrug No warnings. Very unprofessional. Completely ruined the experience. Couldnât spend as much time gathering veggies because of this. They didnât even know how to charge us because no one had gone to that area of the farm that day to pick squash (I wonder why) Ended up charging us $20 for a pumpkin $15 for a...
Read moreThe cookies are delicious! A must try đȘStrawberry picking was fine. A little pricey, but still a fun activity. I really appreciated the tractor ride that takes you right to the strawberry patch. Super helpful, especially with little ones.
There are porta-potties on-site, which is convenient. The parking lot is pretty big since it wraps around the farm, but itâs really rocky and not the easiest to manage with a stroller or buggy. I ended up carrying my baby in a holder most of the time, which worked out but wasnât ideal.
Overall, the place was cute but just okay. There is a nice shaded area under the trees near the shop/cafe, and I feel like it has potential for more, maybe something like live music, simple strawberry recipe demos, or even a small kidsâ activity. To be fair, it was quite early in the season when we went and I get that the farm itself is pretty large and most of the space is dedicated to growing, so it makes sense that there isnât a ton of room for extras, but a little something in that shaded spot could go a long way in making the experience feel more special. Iâd certainly go back, though, especially for...
Read moreMy first experience with 'pick your own fruits' was a memorable one. We traveled using the Go train and Go bus (from Union to Stouffville) and found the fruit-picking location just 2km away from the Go stop. Exploring and hand-picking fruits on a chilly day was an incredibly enjoyable experience.
Our visit was in October, and we had the opportunity to pick apples. We were warmly welcomed and received valuable information about the various apple varieties available. The cost was $15 per person, which also included around 5 pounds of apples to take home.
They offered a diverse selection of juicy apples, including Ambrosia, Honey Crisp, IDA Red, Spartan, Prima, and Sweet 16 etc. Personally, I favored Ambrosia, which was also recommended by the owner.
In addition to the fruit-picking, they had a delightful little market with baked treats, coffee, groceries, and much more.
There was ample parking space available, and a portable washroom service. It's worth noting that parking can fill up quickly during peak seasons and...
