This is one of the most rewarding hikes we've ever made. Challenging but the scenery at the 3 summits is more than breathtaking. We went in early August, the weather was great that day with cool temperatures around 20°C. You must register first at the Felix-Antoine Savard tourist information where you park the car. You then take the park's bus which stops at the entrance for this trail. The first 2km are the toughest on hard rocks and boulders. You start off following a stream then the path takes you into a steep climb with many viewpoints that are wonderful but wait, you've seen nothing yet. The trail continues at a steep but less vertical incline. You will see one restroom at about the half way point. You will eventually after about 2.5 hours reach the first summit, take it all in. There's still another km to the 3rd summit which has an amazing viewpoint of not only the Gorge but the lakes behind the mountains.
You should pack 2 liters of water per person for this hike as there are no fountains on this trail and you will be hiking for at least 4.5 hours. We brought our insulated water bottles that keep the water cool for the entire time. You will be exhausted but...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I did this hike on the weekend, it took us 5 hours with a 30 min break at the summit for lunch. It was a rainy morning when we lift and were surprised to have light snow most of the way up the mountain. The trail itself is difficult for the first two km, there are lots of stony steps, but the trail is well indicated! There's lots of nice lookouts during the first two km, but they are quite windy! Near the top, the wind got more intense and when we got to the first summit, we were in a cloud! From first summer to third, it was easily a 20 minute hike and we had a hard time seeing due to the wind and snow! Eventually, as we had a quick lunch, it cleared up and we were able to get a good view! The way down the mountain was much easier (mostly downhill) but it did involve a lot of stony steps/stairs, we found it easier to do a light jog on flatter parts. We loved this hike for the amazing views, well indicated trails and...
