When searching for a place to stay in or around Gros Morne National Park, I was surprised to find this hidden gem with availability during peak tourist season. It’s located right outside the park entrance with easy access to Trout River or points north or south of Wiltondale. Since this was my first trip to NL, I didn’t really know what to expect for Wiltondale beyond my prior research. I originally planned to camp in the park, but at the last minute decided to look for a place with regular shower access since I planned to hike regularly. I am so pleased with my decision, especially given the varied weather conditions throughout my week. I was so clean, warm and comfortable in my cabin for so many reasons. ||||First, I was impressed with the high quality of customer service from my initial contact to my last day. Andre and Ne (?) were extremely helpful, and attentive. It was easy and convenient to communicate with them from outside of Canada. They also accommodated a late check in, and yet still provided me with a quick tour of the property, and let me settle in my cabin at my leisure. They were friendly and courteous by giving everyone privacy. To my surprise, the cabin was spotless. Not a spec of dust or dirt in sight. I don’t even know how that’s possible with nature just on the other side of the door! This was without a doubt the cleanest spot I’ve ever reserved even when considering prior stays at high end hotels, motels, and airbnbs. I was really impressed to learn that these two people maintain it all themselves. ||||Secondly, there were a lot of amenities in my cabin. I was able to find a grocery store in Deer Lake so I made full use of my fridge, freezer, and stove. I liked being able to access an oven, bbq grill, and coffee maker although I never used them. It was super convenient to have access to salt, pepper, sugar, and ice cubes as well. I forgot about the Keurig machine, and washing machine in the office, but if I remembered it I may have used it. I loved having heat for the very cold nights, access to a hot shower, and my occasional use of the hot tub (outside my cabin) along with access to wifi and cable tv. It was so comforting in preparation for the next day. The bed, couch, and dinette set were much more comfortable than expected. The bed actually felt unused. Usually that’s the worst part reserving a room because the mattress is so worn down, but not here. There were plenty of pillows so I even watched some tv from my bed. ||||The owners also had the latest park information and other tourist information in the office. When my cell phone wouldn’t work to reserve a boat tour ticket, I was allowed to use their phone to make the call. It saved me time trying to drive to the office to try and get on a boat that day. I was so grateful for that one gesture to make my trip more enjoyable. ||||My only suggestion would be to have access to a microwave in the office. There were a couple of times when the convenience of using one would have been ideal versus heating food on the stove, but that’s just me. I was already feeling spoiled with wifi and cable tv access. ||||The trucks driving by on the road could be a bit loud at night, but if you’re used to city living it’s still relatively quiet and peaceful. I’m sure it’s not like that all the time, but there was a lot of construction in the park so just a side note and totally out of the hands of the owners. The other people in the cabins weren’t loud either. It was like a little neighborhood, but you didn’t have to interact unless you wanted to. I know they offered a community bonfire, but I never made it back in time. ||||My only real con about the stay was out of their control. It happened my last night of the stay when the water suddenly stopped working. It took a few hours to fix. I asked for them to knock on my door when it was fixed, I immediately showered and finished packing for my early morning flight. I was very appreciative of the follow up regardless of it being like 2am. It helped me feel refreshed for my travel day. ||||Overall, I can’t say enough good things about my stay. I would highly recommend Bonne Bay Cottages in Wiltondale. It was so convenient to the park, and to areas outside of the park. The attention to detail and amenities provided in the cabin almost make you forget that you are right outside Gros Morne National Park. All the long days of hiking or traveling around the area could have worn me out, but I felt rejuvenated each day so I could truly enjoy my visit in NL. Thank you for being great hosts and for having a fabulous facility! This place won’t stay a hidden gem for long! I hope to return...

Read moreGreat and comfortable space to spend a few days on vacation. A little away from the little towns, but with easy access to the main roads that lead to the main tourist places of the region, and because in that area you need a car anyway, we found great to be able to return the nights to a quiet and peaceful place. The house has a very comfortable space and we got a cabine with beautiful views. Despite being a bit more for the "old" fashion furniture style, it had everything we needed (coffee maker, stove, cooking utensils). There is also a coffee-making machine with travel cups in the office and cookies, which we used every day in the morning before heading to our destinations. There is a barbecue on the balcony for those who want to spend a few more days and there is also a small kiosk with a hot tub for the colder days. The cottage was very clean with free wifi and cable. Ne (The host) was always very friendly, helped us to get an idea what to visit in the area and...
