Do not expect Slo Pitch batting cages!
My expectation from something advertised as Slo Pitch would be balls delivered in an arc about 6-12 ft high and landing near the plate. Here, the pitched balls here have almost no arc, arrive at a height of about 2-5 ft and are just starting to go downward, hitting the rubber backing on the fence behind the plate. Plus they're going about twice as fast as expected.
The website says 25-30mph (and the cages themselves say 18-25), but I didn't realize going in how much faster that was than actual Slo Pitch as the makeup of the rules don't ever specify ball speed, only arc and distance from pitcher to plate.
I believe there are "Slow Pitch Softball" leagues that pitch in this manner of these machines, so perhaps the owners should be clear that their Slo Pitch cages are not intended for Slo Pitch players.
Otherwise the place looks nice. I really wish I could have enjoyed my...
Read morenestled amongst the beautiful vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake, this is my favorite & only place i will go to hit balls at the range. the owner Vic is the BEST. super friendly, great advice, 5 different areas to hit from (grass, turf, & a beautifully sheltered area that you'll wanna try) plus a putting & new chipping green. lessons available on-site from PGA Canada certified pro Martin Lockhart who is the top instructor in Niagara Region. they've even got panels that can tell you everything from club speed, ball speed, distance, etc that sync with your mobile device. have done several videos here because it's so incredible. it's literally like Field of...
Read moreBaseball cages are better than none. Speeds are all over the place rather than what is listed in my opinion. They were not very reliable. Coin sometimes triggered it to start, sometimes not. Ball feeder didn’t refill the hopper very well. Sometimes you’d get a ball sometimes you’d wait. It seemed to get stuck on one and fill the hopper all the way up and never distribute the balls to all the cages, naturally it was never the cage we were in. The person working would come out to redistribute balls or fix the mechanism. Ended up getting replacement coins for when it...
