Since the city has taken over the island it's become a dump/swamp. The kayak cove is not passable anymore and the east inlet is completely blocked now. There's 0 flow through the island leading to stagnant water and a heavy breading ground for mosquitos. Dredge the inlet and give us back the island we used to love.

A beautiful little park. Accessible only by boat, kayak, canoe etc. As of 2018 the City Of Windsor runs a ferry service to the park 3 days per week (Wed Sat Sun) from 10am to 2pm. (best to book in advance) Pack a picnic lunch, some sunblock and a sense of adventure and check out this hidden gem!

A hidden gem in the middle of the Detroit River. Windsor is lucky to have this quality park in the neighborhood! Accessible only by boat/canoe/kayak, but there is a ferry that runs too. Nice trails, shady, great view of Windsor and Detroit. Can see a large variety of wildlife.

Family and I went out on the new Ferry Service Today. The weather wasn't the best, overcast and scattered rain, but we had an great experience. Shore to Ship to Island the staff involved were friendly and energetic about the Island and the new Ferry. Thanks a lot to all you guys. The Trail was a little muddy due to weather but that was to be expected. Gravel was laid in what seems to be the worst areas which made it easy enough. A refurbished dock for viewing the marsh, small cleared area's for viewing the lake, new signage for history, nature, and poison ivy warnings all made for a wonderful day. This ferry service is a beautiful addition to the city and really hope anyone reading this take of advantage of this...

It’s a beautiful island with so much potential for hiking and paddling, but the inlet desperately needs to be dredged by the city in order to allow water flow. Currently, it’s so swampy you can’t even pass through the awesome winding canals in the island, and it’s a breeding ground for mosquitoes to attack anyone who tries to walk on a trail. Please don’t waste this wonderful resource with so much history and dredge the dang inlet by...

Beautiful island with several old trees. There's a path that goes around the main portion of the island that goes over the old bridge Hiram Walker built, and the path continues around the ruins of his old home. Lots of mosquitos because of the marshy streams going through the island. There are washrooms on the island, which is great! It appears that the ferry will be running in 2021...
