Nepean Sportsplex — Local services in Ottawa

I’ve been a member for about 6 months now and love the location and size of the gym. The machines are showing wear and tear—ripped seat covers, broken down equipment that take a lot of time to get fixed and the cleaning could be better. I showered at the gym for the first time yesterday and found the shower cubicles so small ( the doors open inward so no room to manoeuvre—use curtains instead) and the floors were dirty. Also no liquid soap containers on the walls??? The staff are very nice but seem to do nothing but sit behind the desk. They should be checking cleaning fluids, paper towels, and keeping an eye on the gym and change rooms more proactively. It’s a good and very affordable local facility, but equipment is frequently out of service, and repairs take weeks to months which is really unfortunate. I hope these issues can be...

The facility is starting to show it's age but it's kept clean. I watched a few hockey games here and was pleased with arena 3. It was warm and pretty comfortable with the option to watch through the glass from the outside of the rink. Arena 1 has the largest seating capacity with single, stadium style seats. They are old and wooden and this arena is pretty cold so it's pretty uncomfortable at first. Bring a scarf if you're watching an event here in the winter. There are heaters hanging from the ceiling but they seem to be too far away to be off much use. The audio system is remarkably good; you can actually make out what's being announced. There is much more parking in the rear of the building and it seems to be under used so head back there if you want a good parking spot...

This is for badminton sports activity only. Last year I was there during the new year holiday. There are only 4 courts, but they allow almost 40 people to get in without any management. Eventually I left without playing because you can't expect 40 people manage themselves.

This year the same thing happened, they still allowed more than 32 people to get in the courts (4 persons can play in one court at a time). When there is a dispute happened in one court, the administrator just turned off the light of the whole gym and said the activity was cancelled.
