From Prince George, to Prince Rupert, round trip, this was a great trip! Plan to stay a minimum of 2 nights in Prince Rupert (or overnight Prince George..), I could recommend the Tall Tress Bed & Breakfast, great value for affordability (also reviewed). The staff on the train were exceptional and great with my two year old who was up and down on the 13 hour ride to, and than from.. again thank you Ron & JF, never did meet the conductor, and baggage did get ours on and off, were very friendly though be prepared as there was one incident where someones bag was forgotten on the departed train. Though noted immediately and taken in course of action, that too I believe someone may have also purchased hardware.. may have gotten misplaced as well in consideration the employee transporting baggage thought it belonged to the train, was also over heard though noted as in error and being corrected, that regardless they seemed on the ball with everything. The seating was very comfortable. Losing cell service though I only wish there may have been an option for a tv.. even if it was just in the park car.. or restaurant area.. prices for sandwiches and drinks were expected to be high so be prepared to bring your own, or else $9/ sandwich, $4 per coffee or milk.. wines/ beers were about $7/$8 I think, though the staff were sweet and my 2 year old got a treat, they had for kids.. too their Choo Choo Club activity kits were free. Was never cold. There were two stops for about 10 minutes in Terrace & Smithers, though nothing nearby to purchase anything except a gift store.. I believe in Terrace had breakfast burritoes & pastries (didnt go in so not sure on pricing). There is the main car.. (sleeper cars were closed), the park car.. a small restaurant like section for seating, and the dome car that had round views of the top of the last car. The lever to pull up and recline the seat, just to watch your child isnt bouncing around and hits their head on. Too is a little sharp along the bottom where metal is. Last photo is the stop in Prince Rupert Train Station is about a $15 cab ride that crew will call for you :)

We boarded the 'Skeena' train from Jasper but had to stop overnight at Prince George to continue our journey to Prince Rupert. We got to see the Prince George VIA Rail Station only the next morning because the previous night the train stopped almost a kilometer away from the station, and it was so late. It seems the trains arrive and depart later than their scheduled time. Anyway, the next morning the train to Prince Rupert was only about an hour late in departing. We had a few cups of complimentary coffee at the station, and also collected some free information leaflets about the places we were going to visit in and around Prince Rupert. There is a good washroom at the Prince George Station, but not many places where you can buy some snacks or burgers. Best to carry your own hampers on to the train if you are going economy class.

The staff is absolutely amazing BUT you need to upgrade this space. The Jasper Station is so much more. We all deal with the issue of homelessness. I think it is unfair to blame the homeless for making the station feel unsafe. We left our car in the open parking lot, fearing the worst. The parking can definitely be addressed. We came back and the car was in perfect condition but while away we did not have real peace of mind about this as we could not be guaranteed that it is safe.
