Update 2025-06-23: I'm updating my review to 5 stars as I now passed by a second time during the summer and it's a completely different experience. The differences that I saw in my first vs second visit: There's dozens of fantastic relaxation spots outdoors that are very unique and peaceful. The food is fantastic with lots of interesting options and drinks. This is now easily one of my favorite spas in Canada and I've visited dozens of them. Highly recommended! Original Review: Very nice spa around 60-90 minutes from Montreal. If you're looking for a small and quaint spa in the middle of nature, it's a very nice choice. Sadly they don't have too many facilities, so you can easily do the entire circuit in 2 hours. The relaxation rooms aren't anything too special, though the Dark Room is a nice idea in concept, but due to people talking or even snoring, it can easily ruin the experience. There's also a nice little pond for one of the cold plunge options, but good luck if you want to jump in during winter, it's EXTREMELY cold. I highly suggest booking a massage, the two therapists we had during our duo massage were fantastic and for me it's always a must to book if you're passing by a spa. We didn't try too much of the bistro food, but the menu was pretty varied and looked delicious. Note that most of the areas do not allow pictures and talking, so if you're looking to chat, there's better places out there. But if you're looking for some peace and quiet, I highly recommend les Bains Nordiques.

The spa is in a unique location with beautiful views, they don't have large hot spas like the Strom in St-Hilaire, nor do they have a section where you can whisper, they enforce, by their foot soldiers the no taking rule very seriously, so like if you're going with a friend might as well just leave them at home and go alone because it's pretty much how it is going to be here, it should be displayed on their site in big letters for solos only, yes I understand people need to relax and have quiet but most people come in pairs and want to occasionally say something to each other and not be reprimanded, and people want to take photos, no I don't want a photo of you or your friend I want to take a photo of the view and of myself so having a no phone rule and being so strict about it is stupid, why would I want pictures of strangers, no one does, we just want pics of the view, if you are looking for a chill and awsome place go to Strom in St - Hilaire, they have a huge hot pool with "Whisper" so you can freely chat all you want, and Bota Bota, they have a large outdoor swim area for talking, and indoor where it's quiet so you have the best of both worlds, which is what this place should offer, and also the 15$ bathrobe rental is bull***, just include it in your price (always), people walking around in their house robes looks ridiculous and sloppy. I'm gonna spend my money somewhere where I'm not being watched like a hawk.

Beware: I visited a few days ago on a multi-day bicycle tour through the area. This stop was to be a highlight. While soaking I decided to plug in my power bank (used to charge my phone for navigation and such) in the men's change room and when I went back for it the power bank and charger were gone. I figured a staff member had grabbed it or a guest had turned it into the lost and found. But no, after checking with the front desk I was told no one had seen it and that "a guest must have taken it". Suspicious, I poked around the area it was plugged in - under benches, on top of the lockers, and in the private change room next to the area. Low and behold, I found the charger neatly wrapped and very much hidden behind a decorative log in a corner of a private change room. When I approached the supervisor I was dismissed and told that a guest likely did it (I was told the staff were very honest and loyal and would never do such a thing). In any case, I was very relieved to have the battery bank back but saddened by the experience and the apparent attempt at stealing an item that was fairly essential for the cycling trip. True, maybe I shouldn't have left it out but I'm a trusting person and haven't ever had issues with theft in all my many years of cycle touring. The moral of the story is this: don't leave anything out at this place or it might walk away.

Was treated HORRIBLY! Yesterday afternoon my best friend and I went to stay at "Le Cheval Bleu" (LOVE Monique) for a girls night away from the city and she recommended we go to La Source and have a day at the spa and took the time and trouble to call them in order for us to get a discount. After approx 8 calls or so, ((none of which were ever answered), we had decided to take the 20 minute drive because now we had a recommendation and a discount and we presumed and there would have been a place for two people there. After driving on very graveled roads (my poor car), we finally arrived at the spa. Upon arrival we were greeted with a site that TERRIFIED me, the only entrance into the spa was an all uphill climb of approximately 50+ stairs, when I say it terrified me it's because I am disabled from a spine injury but I was so looking forward to going into the spa I figured it would be worth the pain and aggravation and just to sit in a nice hot bath. After several excruciating, necessary breaks to get all the way up, we were finally greeted by a young woman at the so-called front desk/bar.We smiled and commenced conversation , ( to no avail), we began to explain our situation and we asked if she received a call from Monique? To which she responded Monique who? and we proceeded to explain everything to her, pleasantly. She very abruptly and blatantly CONDESCENDINGLY, looked down her nose at us and said..."We have no room", with a tilted head and phoney smile. To which we tried to explain the information that we had for her. In which she cut us off mid sentence and repeated herself..."Desole (sorry ), no room", to which I replied, " Is there????....", and with that same Cheshire grin and quicker than the bunny she wants to be, cut us off mid sentence and.....DISMISSED US! Ending the conversation with a "Goodbye now, you have a nice day", and turned " it's" back on us to ignore us completely and speak to another colleague. I have never been treated in such a disgusting and "holier than thou" manner. I expect somebody who deals with customer service and public relations to do so in an authentic, pleasant and acknowledging manner. We did not merit that type of treatment in any way shape or form and I wouldn't go back to this spa if I had a free pass for a hundred friends of mine. ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE! One last little footnote...... When we first arrived there we must have at least seen 30 individuals or so leaving the property.....NO ROOM...

I was hesitant in posting this review. My decision to do so is that I will gladly modify my review once I have had the full experience of the spa. Like all of their guests, you start the process by making a reservation. Right out of the gate, I had a problem. If you want one of their treatments it's mandatory you do so by phoning. It's impossible to do this online. I called and was told through the answering service to clearly leave a message detailing the service you are looking for. I left my message at 1:30. My request was for two facial appointments for the next day. My partner was going to be with me. At this time, I should add we are first time visitors to the spa. By 4:30 I still hadn't received a call back. I tried continuously calling always being asked to leave a message. One of my calls actually connected me to a live person. Now my fun really started! Sadly I'm unilinguel English. The lady I was speaking with had difficulty understanding my request. Because I was calling for two people, I got the impression the only concern the attendant had was that I was paying for two people, which I was. She painfully took my email address in order to confirm my booking. She must have screwed the address up as I'm still waiting for the email. My credit card has been charged for the two treatments. I want to believe my reservation has been made correctly. I promise to let you know after my experience tomorrow afternoon. I do wish I could converse in French, but the spa needs to ensure they have staff on their phones that can understand English. As I was politely sharing my frustration with the overall situation, my attendent hung up on me! I couldn't believe I was living this but I did. I'm hoping for a better experience tomorrow. Thank you for allowing me to...

Although the place is beautiful, the rating is based on the staff. The only person who was friendly was the front desk/reception girl. Didn't get her name, but she was blonde. I'm the kind of person who will smile and nod to say "good morning" or "hello" or whatnot, but every staff member I did this to quickly looked down and away. A bit rude. ...

Beautiful spa! The snowy mountains add to the zen. No phones allowed, though it seems like this rule (if it actually is one) isn't followed considering other reviews have pictures from the baths/outdoor fireplaces. And it's a "whispers only" kind of place (signs every few feet reminding you to be silent). Staff is friendly for the most part. Not a fan of the random employees popping out of nowhere to give you hell if you made any noise above a whisper. It happened twice to my husband and I; we we're whispering into each other's ears, and he couldn't hear me over the waterfall so I ever so slightly raised my voice and BAM. Employee came to give me hell. Seems as though we were singled out as the only ones getting warnings; every couple was making noise/whispering. All I was doing was asking if he was ready to move on to the next bath or sauna. There was a group of 4 in their 50-60s who, ever time they got into the cold baths, would scream. And not a single employee ever said anything to them. On the plus side, locker rooms are kept very clean. We didn't eat the food. We had asked for a menu, and were told that we couldn't see it unless seated... but every single table and seat was taken, so we just left. Will be...
