A fantastic hike along the edge of land where the Cape Breton Highlands meets the Gulf of St Lawerence. Beautiful scenery and a very tough hike. Lots of vertical hiking keeps your heart rate high for sure. Beware of cow parsnip as it can give you severe burns. Wear long pants as there are raspberry and other bushes to hike through. There is a small river crossing at the halfway point. Easy to cross during the dry season, but a springtime crossing would be interesting. At the end when clear of the bush and walk out onto the elevated meadow heading down to the cove, a breath taking view. The beach, the meadow, the river and the horses!

Not an easy trail, but so worth the effort, both ways are challenging. No need to pack water. Lots on the way there and a nice fresh water river at the camp site. Pick up some water tablets or I used a sawyer water filter. Sunset is out of this world 🌎

Absolutely stunning trail with amazing vista's. It's not for the faint of heart but worth it. Too us 6 hours to hike to the cove and back.

Challenging trail, 18km round trip starting at a Buddhist temple. Lots of rocks, up and downs. Make sure you got flip flops and good hiking shoes to cross the swampy areas and to enjoy the beach. Did not get to see the wild horses unfortunately, but still a great place to visit. Starting point is after the Buddhist temple. If you get tired you can stop halfway, where there is the big river, there is a fire camp. Just wish it was less crowded, also some campers/hikers tend to leave big traces of their visit such as shoes, water bottle, which is...

A lovely hike to a beautiful beach with free-range horses and a brook. I recommend that you camp there overnight if possible so you don't rush the hike and enjoy the area. The trail can be muddy and tricky in areas so be careful but it's safe and not too challenging. Some informal parking space is available at the trail head and it seemed safe to leave cars there (it's an...
