1 & Only Riverside Accommodations — Local services in Sable River

If we weren't already exhausted by the time we got there, we would have left on arrival. We booked two nights but only stayed one. We spent over 1 hour cleaning on arrival. Everything was dirty. Every room had a 2-3 inch dirt and dust ring, beds and couch had hair, toilet was disgusting, fridge had drippings down it, stove knobs and surrounding area were greasy and food splattered, bed uncomfortable, windows lined in dead bugs and more. We cleaned all of the mentioned and more.

The morning we left someone called within 1 hour with an apology and said someone would call back regarding compensation. More then 2 weeks later I was contacted by the owner who advised me my complaint was "sitting on someones desk who is on vacation". She offered 2 nights free on them which we refused. I did tell her I was surprised by the response and after my initial conversations I was expecting the 1 night refund. I also explained its a lenghy drive there and back but she said that was all they had to offer. By the end of our conversation she said she hopes "our conversation is reflected in any future reviews".

We had an amazing time at 1 and only retreat. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. We absolutely loved the enclosed hot tub set up. It was very relaxing and peaceful. We walked down to the water in the evening and it was a beautiful view. We had so much fun! Thank you! I highly recommend this location. Any reviews that complain and give a less than review about the mosquitoes is unfair. It’s a country setting and mosquitoes are part of life. Know your environment. If you’re looking for a place with outside adventure in the woods then common sense would tell you to expect bugs. If you don’t like the outside because you don’t like bugs, you still have options! Stay inside the enclosed hot tub area or sit in the screen tent or simply book a hotel that would be better suite for your needs. We did leave a pillow and would have appreciated a call/email to let us know so we could have gone back before we left NS but we also read the sign that said they would dispose of any personal items left behind. The location is beautiful, the cottage is nice. There are some things they need to attend to. The furniture is not very comfortable. The tub in the cottage I was in was a death trap, way too high up. Only left one set of towels for each (my spouse and I) . Highly recommended to take your own if you go. Our bathroom garbage wasn't even emptied, was full to brim. I didn't notice any first aid kits in the cabin?? Maybe leave more then one set of cup towels in the kitchen? No extra towels for the hot tub. The cleaning of the bathroom was not spectacular upon arrival. For the firepit, need kindling and paper to start fire, that is not provided. But there is firewood provided on site for free.
