Second time meeting friends at this establishment. First time came with my husband and this time he did not come along because he knew the food was quite bad.||The reservation was under our friend's name. I arrived first. I was greeted with a somewhat apprehensive waitress/server. After a cursory hello she quickly asked if I have a reservation. I said yes and gave the name. She did not check the reservation she asked me instead - how many people are in the reservation. I said that I did not know but probably 4 to 6. She then said again so you don't know how many? I reiterated again that I did not and that she could check the reservation. She disregarded me again and said for the last time "well it depends where we seat you". And I reiterated again that I don't know. Finally another waitress looked at the reservation and said it's 5. Finally she sat me down. There was no one else in the restaurant. It was 9:15 and the reservation was for 9:30 brunch/breakfast. || It's almost like she was in a bad mood and was spreading her nastiness to the customers and I was simply the one that she picked because I showed up early. Oh yeah and she had the nerve to approach me trying to sell tickets for a Veteran fund raiser. I'm pretty sure that if I had bought any - my tickets would have ended up not included in the final pick. ||I have eaten in excellent establishments all over the world (I'm 58 years old). And I know passive aggressive service when I encounter it. This restaurant is a perfect example of the servers having control over the seating area. When the management is around you may get better service but when they are alone you will get bad or almost rude service - unless they know you. Try to complain about an attitude. ||The brunch bar was not even average is was way below average. I know that there is a food desert between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie ontario and the food in almost all establishments are average to below average. This one is way below average.||The milk and creamers on the table were sour. But because they were the type that do not need to be refrigerated when they go sour they form a strange slimy blob at the bottom of your coffee cup. I had to spit out the last sip because of this. The ketchup and condiments on the table looked grimy and I know that the ketchup is never taken off the tables and refrigerated ever. This is also an example of lazy people running the restaurant. ||I have been to restaurants that are plain but clean and fresh. The ketchups are fresh out of the fridge and same with the cream and milkers. ||I can't even get into the taste and texture of the food. You can just imagine. ||Anyhow unless you are desperate do not go for the brunch here. I don't know...
Read moreLodge is falsely advertised and uses pictures from 20 years ago to advertise. We would have left but they would not give us our money back. Employees did the best they could but there were only three for the entire lodge. Nobody available after 5:30 to assist no one answered the emergency number on the door even when the lodge receptionist tried to help. ||Carpet soaked in bedroom from leaking A/C. They have the air conditioner draining in the camp and put a kitchen bowl there to contain the water which didn’t. ||Screens ripped off the windows and taped back on. ||They replaced an old drive which is nice but put a new stove in middle of kitchen with wires exposed. They didn’t make the hole between the cupboards larger just dragged the stove in front of the cupboards. We had to move it to the side. ||Says full size fridge for a larger camp but is an apartment sized fridge for 5 people. ||No keys to one cabin. They said they were somehow lost and we couldn’t lock up when we went fishing. ( locks were replaced a day later after we complained )||Firewood we bought from the lodge which was expensive was mostly scrap wood from projects around the lodge and pressure treated so you couldn’t cook on it. ||No boats ready when we got here. Had to wait to start fishing. They didn’t even know we had boats even though the our bill stated boats. ||Pontoon boat was a complete disaster, all seats ripped, floors filled with dirt, everything covered in dirt, goose poop. Canopy was broken covered in white poop, slanted. Boat did not start one night. No staff available after 5:30 to assist you. Another lodger had to help us get the boat working because they had the same issues. ||Water inflatables were filthy and partially deflated in the water. We had to mop and wash them for kids to use. Staff provided us with Lysol and mop but they would not clean it. Trampoline had a huge rip in it which was dangerous for the kids. Kayaks had no plugs in them and full of water. Kids started to sink when they went on them. ||Beach lawn chairs were ripped and falling apart. Full of mildew as well. ||Provided lifejackets that expired and were so sun damaged they barely floated. ||Staff in lodge had no idea we were set up with a meal plan and were not prepared for us. They had only 3 pieces of dessert for 9 of us. Meals were not what was listed online. It says roast beef and turkey dinners but you get wings and pasta. The food is good but not what is advertised. The waitress and cook here were excellent and...
Read moreOur son and his family came here a few years back and because they loved their experience so much, we decided to splurge on a vacation here to celebrate my wife's retirement. We opted for the American Plan, for one week, which is supposed to include daily housekeeping.|The staff was friendly at check-in. When we got to our cabin, it became clear that the pictures on the website, and the promise of a "recently renovated bathroom", were not entirely accurate. The bathroom sink was not attched to the wall. The water pressure in the shower was next to nothing. The toilet needed to have the lid removed from the back to have the chain reattached, at least 10 times. The shelf above the sink was also in danger of falling off. We understand that we were not going to a 5 star hotel, but these are basic things you would expect, especially for the kind of money they're getting.|Over the course of the week, we had to remind the staff that we had the American Plan at least 5 times. At the end of our 7 days, we had received only 4 days worth of this service. We had to ask at the office for basic things like garbage bags, a recycling bin, towels and face cloths, a fan, firewood and to come in and tidy up. These are all things we paid for and were supposed to get, without my having to go and ask for them every day or so. Each time I reminded someone on the staff about this, they were very friendly and "sorry" but I found myself going back to ask for the basics, time and again. When I was asked at check-out how my stay was, the response was the same. I was also told that the manager would be informed. We have yet to hear anything about it. I would have welcomed some feedback.|I've included some pictures of some of the cabin so readers can judge for themselves. I could have taken more, but when check out time came, we just wanted to leave. |I can only guess, but it seems to me that Waterfalls Lodge has been bought by someone who sees it as an investment and nothing else. The state of the cabin we were in and the grounds in general should have tipped us off right away. There is no pride of ownership. The staff, while friendly gave the impression that they were somewhat "handcuffed" by restrictions from managment, like there was some kind of mandate to do the bare minimum. I should mention that the kitchen staff was excellent and I have no complaints about the boat and it's maintenance. That said, good food and a good boat are not nearly enough for us to spend that kind of money at Waterfalls...
