Must Visit!! Stopped by the distillery over Thanksgiving weekend with my girlfriend. We weren't expecting too much in terms of a tasting or explanation because there was only 12min left before they closed but oh were we wrong!! In the best way possible! Dave and James were absolutely amazing, welcoming us into the distillery with smiling faces and open arms... handing us empty glasses to start sampling the amazing spirits they had been working on. We got a full step by step rundown of the operation from the apples they source -> the apple cider they ferment -> the vodka and gin that they distill in their beautiful copper still! Dave and James are incredibly knowledgeable and everything they do and make at the distillery is rooted in family, tradition and their story! We have never had such an amazing experience at a distillery or any other working farm or business. You can really tell that Dave and James are passionate about what they do and are focused on creating a quality product that they themselves enjoy and are proud of and know others will too! This was our most memorable and favourite stop while visiting Salt Spring Island for the weekend! Highly recommend stopping in (maybe with more than just 12min before closing! Hahah sorry guys our bad!). No one will leave disappointed, I can guarantee that!

My friends and I explored Salt Spring Island this weekend and had the best time visiting Sweetwater Distilling. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Above and beyond our expectations! From the moment we arrived, Dave (the Owner) and James (the Operations Manager) made us feel completely welcome. James gave us a fantastic tour, walking us through the distilling process and sharing the history of the business. One of the most interesting parts of the experience was learning that they use fresh mountain spring water from the property (which gives the distillery its name) to make their spirits—it doesn't get more local or pure than that! The spirits were/are delicious — smooth, full of flavour and distilled with love, pride and care. If you're on Salt Spring, we highly recommend stopping by this must-visit gem. Chat with James and Dave, enjoy the tour, and taste some truly exceptional small-batch spirits. You won’t be disappointed!

We discovered the Sweetwater Distillery booth at the Salt Spring Saturday Market, which prompted us to visit the distillery itself. James, the operations manager, greeted our group warmly and introduced us to owner Dave, who provided a fascinating, in-depth history and explanation of the distilling process. The highlight was tasting all seven current products. The Mt. Erskine Vodka was clean and flavorful, while the various gins were outstanding - each with distinct botanical profiles. Our favorite was their newest creation: an American White Oak barrel-aged gin. It's absolutely delicious and, as we discovered at home, makes the perfect Negroni. The combination of a beautiful setting, genuine hospitality, and James' personalized tour made this truly unforgettable for our entire group. Make sure to include Sweetwater Distillery on your next Salt Spring Island visit!

If you love spirits with a story, you must check out Sweetwater Distilling! We took a scenic drive into the valleys of Salt Spring Island and were thrilled to find ourselves the only ones at the tasting room. The tasting room is a beautiful modern building on a historic homestead site where you will find unique and award winning gin and vodka. Our tasting guide was incredibly welcoming and kind, and gave us a full tasting of their 7 spirits, while explaining each of their unique distilling processes and ingredients used. Along with a tour of the stills and property, we got to know the history of the land and the company; it was such a pleasant afternoon! And the vodka and gin is award winning for a reason: balanced, complex, and delicious! We ended up with a bottle of their bestselling gin and their nocino, made with walnuts from a tree on the property. 5 star experience and a must try for anyone visiting Salt...
