Today my wife and I went to return a sweater I had bought my wife for a Christmas Gift. I purchased the sweater with my daughter near the end of November. I brought it home, put it in a gift bag to be opened at Christmas. We opened gifts Christmas Eve. She only tried the sweater on Dec 26th. She didn’t like how it fit but she did cut the tag off but we didn’t think that mattered! Dec 27th we drove to Dutch Growers to return or exchange it with the original receipt and tags! To our surprise the young girl who was manager accused us of having washed it so was unreturnable! My wife Did Not wash it we emphasized to her! Why would anyone wash something that didn’t fit in the first place!! She blatantly told us she didn’t believe us as many people return things like that! After a bit she seemed to somewhat believe us, and only offered in store credit! That was fine, but she made us both feel like we were doing something bad! That really put a damper on us shopping that day! We gave Dutch Growers a lot of business over many years including big purchases. I’m not sure about returning there and certainly will never buy clothing from them ever again! Even if it was washed previously by another customer and returned to the store, why was it put back...

I genuinely have never done this before but I cannot allow myself to pass up this opportunity to commend one of your employees on such a job well done. I’ve always loved and supported your store and the staff have consistently been amazing. The (who I presume to be) manager of the clothing section however, was above and beyond essentially any shopping experience I’ve ever had. When I came in, the item I was looking for was low on stock and I was given information about when I could come back for more selection, which was appreciated. What got me though was that they helped me find similar items, and when I was trying things on they brought a pair of shorts I never would have picked up and urged me to try them on. They are now my favourite thing I own. Their attention to my style and preferences as well as guessing my size exactly right was more than impressive. I’ve never felt so good in a pair of shorts before. I can live this summer free to be comfortable in my own skin :) Thank you, and I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name, but you are the reason I will...
Read morePlants: Lots of sickly looking houseplants selling for full price. Many of the larger houseplants had pest infestations. Often, the exact plants from the same suppliers are available from other local sellers for less. Rarely is the selection interesting to someone with a special interest in plants. However, the houseplant staff is v pleasant, apart from the guy who's always in the videos.
The annuals used to be a cut above other greenhouses, but no longer are. They're fine. But not exceptional. Ditto the perennials.
Fashion: Some nice items even if the manager and owner who often appear in the online promos are not so stylish.
Giftware: No idea who's in charge of ordering, but the assortment is baffling. Tacky items I'd expect to see in a cottage country store - potty humour and the like. Plenty of cringing Precious Moments type sappy and religiously themed items. Lots of dusty corners that time has forgotten. Some nice patio and dinnerware from time to time.
Note: Absolutely no place for an elderly person or a person with mobility or health...
