A fun, simple bike ride from Downtown Squamish. Relatively flat terrain, although the surface was quite uneven on the spit itself. There were some big potholes, large rocks and jagged edges. A mountain bike would sail through but my city bike did not fare that well. It was worth it to take in the scenic views. Read moreThe Squamish Spit and Estuary is a bird watcher's heaven! But be warned, the gravel access road has many potholes and can be rough for sedans or cars with low clearance.
Make sure to arrive at low tide & pack muck boots if you want to walk all the way out on the spit. Arriving at 9:00 am this morning, we spotted otters playing, a seal resting on a log, herons fishing, and an assortment of local songbirds.
