I am not sure if Indian Express is still open on Beachy Cove Road in Portugal Cove or if they now only operate out of their food truck but I recently tried one of their frozen meals that they have for sale at Powell’s and other local grocery stores. I tried their Tandoori Chicken Meal and I really enjoyed it. The taste was really good with a nice light spice flavour, not really hot for those of you that don’t like hot foods. There was a good helping of chicken and Basmati Rice, enough for me to have lunch the next day (I’m not a bigger portion eater). These meals come frozen and you can buy either the microwave or oven packaging. I had the microwave package. After warming it in my microwave I found that the chicken seemed a bit pink in the middle. My wife had gotten sick at Swiss Chalet years ago from chicken so she was a little nervous about eating it so I put it back in and cooked it some more. It was fine when it came out this time and we both enjoyed our meal. It was probably fine the first time but we wanted to ensure it was well done. Like most Newfoundlanders we tend to over cook everything 😂. Definitely try it if you like To try different types of food,you’ve...
Read moreThe Indian express restaurant is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever got the food from. In fact, such kind of restaurant malign the world-famous taste of Indian food. The taste of their food such as samosa, naan, butter chicken is far inferior from the authentic one. I feel if there are more Indian restaurant like that in the town, people will hate to buy Indian food. I think they don’t even cook samosa and naan in the restaurant, instead they buy them from wholesale store or Costco and just bake them and sell them in ten times higher price. Further, the quantity the provide is much less. I am surprised some of the positive review. I t seems they either don’t know the real taste, or they are friend of the owner—don’t know. I advise avoid such kind of restaurant. You will find several persons selling really tasty and authentic homemade Indian food at facebook market place—give them try, you will love it! Still you want to go to an Indian restaurant, I think India gate is the best option...
Read moreEdit: It's been 2 years since reviewing. Some places I've reviewed have come and gone or quality has suffered. That is definitely not the case with The Indian Express. It's a regular in our dining rotation always and always will be. We picked up lunch today and it was outstanding. Plentiful and delicious. Once again thanks so much. A+++
Picked up lunch today. Jerry's Fried Chicken. Shawarma Biryani. Tub of Butter Chicken. The food was outstanding and portions were huge for the cost. The Butter Chicken was brought home for our own creation and let me tell you the sauce was plentiful, tasty and very well done. The taste to value ratio of all dishes was 10/10. We visited the restaurant itself at Hunts Lane and the freshness was definitely a huge part of how good this was. Thank you...
