Alchemist Distiller — Local services in Summerland

It’s a family affair…started by French Chemical Engineer Simon and his wife, this tasting experience is a must for any fun seeking imbibers.

Everything is distilled on site at their Summerland warehouse/tasting room. They got gin (including Old Tom), they got vodka, they got brandy, they got grappa…all distilled using local apples!

Simon has painstakingly crafted each bottle to perfection sourcing the best (and local whenever possible) ingredients.

Most notably he’s created a herbal liqueur a la Chartreuse in tribute to the green fairy of his homeland. Made with 17 herbs, we immediately bought the bottle after tasting. If you like any Alpine type liqueur, you gotta try the bottle he calls...

We stumbled upon this gem of a distillery a few years ago, while trying to take a break from the usual wine tours. Was extremely surprised by the quality of the products. Their gin is my all-time favorite with its unexpected notes and freshness. I'm excited to offer it to any gin lovers, and is always a hit. The apple liquor is just WOW, it's like apple pie in a glass without being overly sweet and heavy. This year they without a doubt outdid themselves. We were passing through the town and unfortunately was during the days they are not open. After a quick phone call, Simon offered to deliver our order to the hotel. Genuinely one of the best experiences we've had - and we have been touring wineries, cideries, and distilleries in the Okanagan for years. The proprietor (who is, in fact, a chemist) is entirely charming and speaks passionately about his craft, the local ingredients in his spirits, and how to best enjoy them. We tasted almost everything, and were utterly delighted and inspired by his blends. Even the straight-forward spirits (vodka, gin) had beautiful layers to them. We bought an armful of bottles and we will definitely be back - often. What a hidden gem! Highly recommend it!
