Water is so warm (24-27°c in August compared to 22-25°c in Turkey Point), but summer time is just... June to Mid-August is so disgusting. Fish flies infest the area, swarming the area, landing on chairs, poles, your car.. They sit on water and kill fish so the shoreline is absolutely coveredand with live/dead fish-flies, wings, or dead fish and it causes an odor thats just so foul. Going in the water causes the odor to soaks into your skin, and it took two showers to get the smell out. I detailed my car and the smell is still there. The sand is also extremely large (each grain that is), so walking without flipflops is basically impossible unless you've taken the effort to build tough muscles . Locals here would swear by it but only because they've probably invested a lot into their property and honestly if I were them, I too would neglect the negatives for the sake of sanity.

Read moreVisited with the family on a sunny Saturday morning. Beach is excellent! Well kept, lots of available garbage cans, bathrooms, change facilities. It was awesome having the playground equipment and splash pad just up the hill to rinse off the kiddos and get out that extra bit of energy!
However - parking was in SHORT supply. It looks like there is plenty of parking at first glance but a lot of it is permit parking only, or reserved for the event center, or for vehicles with boat trailers.

Read moreThey are doing quite a bit of work on the place which is nice. Washroom facilities were very dirty so I suggest being in your suit before you go there. We happened to go at the height of fishfly season therefore you had to try and swim through an abundance to get out in the water. I don't suggest it. Lots of parking.
