We have camped at the Gull harbour campground on Hecla island for a few years now. It's a great location for quiet out of the way camping, only two hours north of Winnipeg. Hike the different trails around the island, climb the tower on the North point of the island, watch the boats in the marina, climb around on the rocks in the east quarry, or follow the self guided trail through Hecla village, which gives you some details on the history of the village and the island itself. We love getting campsites on the west tip of each loop, as most have a rough trail down to the west shoreline, where you can watch beautiful sunsets and skip an infinite number of perfect skipping stones.
