My favorite place in the world. My family and I go up once a year and it is always the highlight. It's absolutely gorgeous, with lots of opportunities for nature and wildlife photography on its walking trails and scenic view areas.

There are 2 main waterfalls to see, the black beaver falls; a pair of small waterfalls that cut through the forest, and the Bridal Veil falls; a large fall that changes greatly with the seasons. In the spring, it is a raging waterfall that very much loves up to its name, but in the fall, when the train runs, it is a smaller, but much more beautiful in my opinion, multi-stage waterfall where the water splits as it hits the various outcrops in the cliff face on its way down. There is one smaller waterfall which is called the pink staircase (labeled on maps as otter creek falls (?) Never heard it called that though) it is best seen on the path to the lookouts, where it sort of transitions from a waterfall to a creek into the river, although it is sometimes dry if it hasn't rained in a while.

The park proper is also very nice. Food is available on the train and there is a Pavillion to eat under. There is a swing set and some old railroad equipment for kids to play on. The workers are very friendly. There are 2 lookouts, an intermediate lookout which is easily accessible and provides relatively good views, as well as the main lookout which is a harder walk (276 fairly steep steps if I recall), but has incredible views of the river and canyon.

Words and pictures can't really describe what it feels like to be there in person, it is an area with incredible natural beauty and this kind of largely unpolluted and untouched nature should be seen by everyone at least once in their lives, in my opinion. Just make sure to...

Was awesome! Accessible only by a 4 hour train ride, the layover to visit the 3 main sites is not long enough for most people to see the sights. You can take food and drink on the train but CANNOT consume it. No time to use the picnic area if you want to see the sights. Views were incredible. Must have bug spray! An unknown bug type tore the back of my neck up but never...

There are two falls there. Both are sort of hiding behind trees even though decks have been built and clear some space. But nature belongs to trees, isn't it normal?

On the other hand, you will appreciate on a hot day the cool air offered by the shade of the...
