Review for a sunset snowshoeing via Hollyburn Mountain Winter Access Trail Loop. Essential items include waterproof shoes, snow shoes, a warm jacket/pants, a first aid kit, water, Gatorade, snacks, a headlamp (in case it gets dark) and poles (if you need them). The hike was between 6.9km roundtrip with an elevation gain of 415m. The first 3.7 km up was a steady incline and can get very difficult near the top. This took us about 3 hours to go up and down. The view was breathtaking, and we would highly recommend it. It can get very cold at the top. Be careful on your way down as it is very steep. Be advised if you slide down, you may get bruises, so be careful. This hike is well worth the trek, and we highly recommend it!

I love this place!! This is my 2nd time snow shoeing and it's the same pristine quiet mountain as before. But it feels way steeper than before. Either that or I've gotten out of shape hehe. There's really nothing to review. The parking is plentiful, the view is great, and there are even rentals that aren't insanely expensive. I do recommend bringing poles though. It gets very tiring, especially near the top of the mountain. The rental shoes aren't so bad.

A well-travelled winter route that is aided by cleats / micro spikes for those staying on trail or by snowshoes for early hikers that like to break trail or wander around near the marked trail. Parking in the Nordic area can be challenging on busy days. The trail is popular, especially on bluebird days. Be prepared as weather can change very quickly & darkness comes early in the winter. Visit North Shore Rescue for safe back country travel info.

One of my favourite 3 hour hikes in Greater Vancouver. Accessible year-round, but bring snowshoes or at least crampons if there is any snow on the mountains.

Be aware, this is a mountain, and there is wildlife including bears, and probably also cougar and bobcats. Do research on how to safely hike in wilderness before you go. Be prepared, be safe, and don't be stupid. Stay on the marked trails and ask other people for help if you don't know what you're doing. Search and Rescue doesn't want to come looking for...
