The best part of the visit was to see the Victorian house, which is a historical site. Part of it was rebuilt to resemble the original style. We met a couple of helpers there who dress in Victorian style clothing to explain us the different features of the house they are very kind, I donât know all of the names; We only know Susan from the kitchen who is a very kind lady and very nice to my wife. Itâs quite amazing to learn about a different features of the house and how people lived in those days and amazed how our livelihood has evolved into such great differences now in not really a long time (a few hundred years) this is to say the development of our history doesnât need to be thousands or millions years of age, but things can change drastically when all the ingredients are ready for it. We also went for the guided tour at the other old house of early settlement next door, which we can already tell it was lived by a poorer family. The tour guide lady told us that the house was onceâs lived by 9 to 12 members of a family during their early settlement days. Everything was so basic and we were amazed the big differences between this house and their next-door neighbor who lived in beautiful Victorian house with lots of features and entertainment (and thatâs because this family inherited the wealth passed down from several...
Read moreI am reviewing both the musuem and the 44th annual Victorian Afternoon Tea
MUSUEM EXPERIENCE A very clean and well lit area with interesting architecture. I appreciated learning more about Canada's regrettable history with Residential Schools. We also saw exhibits on York Regional Forest, sewing machines from the 1800s and school in the 1800s. The schoolhouse from the 1800s was very impressive. We also visited a log cabin and a home of a farmer family on the outside grounds.
Staff were extremely eager to answer our history questions. They did an amazing job.
VICTORIAN TEA Cost $30 per person and quality matched the price point. This was a more communal experience where we were seated with other people but it was nice since we got to talk to new people. We were served orange pekoe tea with a choice of coffee, various sandwiches, and self serve desserts. I really enjoyed the cream tea...
Read moreWe used this facility for a business event. Very nice building and helpful staff. If you hold an event here make sure you communicate to your attendees about parking, there are a limited number of spaces in front, but there is an overflow parking lot a couple of hundred feet south, with a dimly lit pathway back to the facility. Also make sure you include or negotiate setup time into your rental. They made an exception and let us in early to setup, but we had to sit outside in our cars for about 45 minutes as there was a gap in their staff coverage and they literally locked us out of the building until the evening...
