I arranged for them to cater a corporate event for our end of year employee BBQ and it was fantastic. I am going to give an honest and fair review for anyone who is trying to decide whether to use their services or not. Negatives: some thought the brisket needed salt, some of the moist towelettes were dry. Any extra serving spoon would have helped. Better presentation for servicing sauces. The payment system is a bit cumbersome. I have not been referred to anyone. I did an online search read some reviews and made contact. Positives: Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They gave good recommendations for our needs. They are very confident in their product and set a high expectation. You almost think yeah, yeah it's all talk everyone is "great" but then they deliver and exceed the expectations with the high quality of food and flavor. We wowed our employees with a true BBQ Feast. They should change or at least nickname themselves BBQ Beast! We had pulled chicken, amazing! Brisket, beyond yum (salt shakers could be provided for the few that mentioned that) We had a small portion of pulled Jackfruit to provide a vegan option which was a delight to those that partook. Pasta Salad, out of this world and a mean coleslaw! Along with fresh buns sauces cutlery, serving utensils, plates and towels. Food was delivered on time actually about 5 minutes early which was perfect! The food came ready to serve at the hot or cold temperatures required. The containers were sturdy with solid accessories. Nothing felt or looked cheaply made. The chicken was so good that those who didn't want chicken and opted for beef but were urged to try some of the chicken and ended up coming back for seconds of the chicken! The runner up was the pasta salad; Everyone was talking about how good it was and had additional helpings. BBQ Feast helped me design something that was in our budget and worked for us and promised that our guests would be wowed. Our guest/employees were overwhelmed beyond wowed!!! We also had a key member of our staff retiring and she said it was the best day she has ever had at work in her 40 years of working. A huge contributing factor to this was the quality of the food... 100% top notch.
I only put the negatives to be nitpicky because no one is ever perfect. But to be truthful those negatives were small and insignificant things. I really had to sit back and reflect and dig to find anything negative. The positives are so abundant that I cannot even begin to list them all. Ok stop reading and go book your event....
Read moreI have personally attended a bunch of events catered by BBQ Feast (and hosted a few of my own) and have never heard anyone say a bad thing about them.
So I'll start with the food. The food is EPIC. That pulled pork cone with the perfect dill pickle just hanging off and the delicious (but not over the top) slaw nestled gently on top! Who thinks of having a pork "snow" cone?!? At one event we did we had these massive shrimp grilled to perfection with an option for garlic butter or a suuuuuuper sexy hot sauce. Leading into the maple glazed smoked salmon...... (insert Homer Simpson drool here) perfectly cooked (not over done, which is the usual in an event of that particular size) seasoning on point at all times, all while miraculously keeping all thing set apart from each other due to some of our absurd allergy requests! Add to that all the delicious ice cream related dessert options (my personal kryptonite) sums up a perfect dining experience.
Moving on to the equipment. State of the art top of the line smokers, kept immaculately clean and are huuuuuuuge show pieces. I mean these guys roll in here with this giant red machine attatched to a friggin old school Hummer! A Hummer!!!! It's all an amazing show and just another day for the boys and girls at BBQ Feast. Everything is clean and uniform (exactly how I like it)
Next up we've got the staff. All friendly and well knowledged about all things happening. Like I said dietary and allergy restrictions were a big concern for us. But not for them! Everybody had a radar in their head and they all knew who to watch out for and why! Super slick uniforms and BBQ Feast hats galore. These guys know how to maintain a professional attitude and conduct.
And lastly let's get to the Doherty clan. David is the front man and from the moment we met he was nothing but accommodating with suggestions (he even talked us out of a more expensive package we didn't need on one particular event!!!) Mom and Pop can usually be found somewhere busting their backs as well. Really just a pleasant family to be around with amazing precision and a fantastic reputation. I know a lot of their clients who are good friends of mine and they all say the same. Keep up the...
Read moreNot worth it. $6,610 for $1 sandwiches. The meat was bland, the buns were just store bought and not toasted, they were only there for an hour. An extra $100 to put the leftovers in a couple of aluminum takeout containers. I hold myself accountable for not negotiating better and really understanding exactly what we we’re getting for the price. The markup on this was unreal. They don’t provide plates, just scoops of meat on buns and a couple of mediocre salads. It did feed the 100 people and nobody got sick so at least that was good.
David did call me and let me know that their business has a lot of overhead cost that is worked into each deal. Based on what I experienced, what you get for $6,610, the service is grossly overpriced.
Do yourself a favour and buy an assortment of food from Costco. It will cost $5,000 less and the food will be better.
David called to gaslight my concerns around the price and offer no retribution and let me know that my attitude was disgusting after I apologized for being impolite. You’re the one who offered to have a chat with me and then just tried to gaslight everything I said. How did you think that was going to go?
Just spare yourself and do something else for your wedding. Best day of my life but the food was just not good and overpriced.
Even if their prices are competitive with other catering companies The other ones have to be better than the mediocrity...
