So, for years now we have heard a lot of people talk about the Caribbean Islands and how they are a must see. Paradise on Earth, as they say. Well, I am here to tell you don't waste your money on Grand Cayman! We used Cayman Airways, which not only pushed back our departure time by an hour then left a half hour after that, they damaged our bag and then arrived and took off late on our return only to be turned around at Tampa Airport and rerouted to Miami. We finally got to Tampa 4 hours late. Don't get me started on their free Rum Punch on the flight, which is poured from a gallon jug with no fruit in it at all. My wife and I spent a week here and while I can say the Ocean Cabanas Dive Resort, we found on Airbnb was excellent, the rest of the island left much to be desired. Our Hertz rental car was severely lacking in upkeep, as there was a nail in one of the tires, the sun visor could not be used on the driver's side, as the mirror would fall out and the other side had no visor at all. Let's not forget the tank was not filled up and the vehicle was dirty inside and out. Even though the Hertz site stated they were open until 10, they actually closed at 6 and left the vehicle outside, in the previously stated condition, unlocked and with the keys on the visor. We visited two beaches, cemetery and 7 mile, both of which were underwhelming with hardly any sea life around the reefs and no shells. We did the touristy thing and did the Cayman Crystal Caves and Botanic Gardens, which were very overpriced and not worth the sweat. We ate at a few restaurants and only found one that was worth the price and the time, which was the Kitchen Steakhouse. The island shops and restaurants charge a premium for their souvenirs and food and don't get me started on the exchange rate, which is an extra 25 cents to every Cayman dollar, along with the mandatory 15% tip at most restaurants. As with most places, their restaurants are owned by foreigners that don't hire the local natives. There are a lot of abandoned houses, but plenty of new condos being built. Our only saving grace was their grocery store, Fosters, which saved us a bunch on their hot food. We did not encounter any VAT tax while there, but they made up for it with their overpriced everything. Finally, we found out they donโ€™t have any help is hit by hurricane and you could be there for weeks, if not months, without any water, or assistance to return to the U.S. In summary,...

The most awesome island experience one can imagine. Lots of sun sand and saltwater-fun with all the modern amenities rivaling any other top tourist destination in the world. Lots of natural beauty every where, mixed with modern metropolitan infrastructure. The downsides can be a little disappointing, with the exchange rate to the US dollar, but the benefits show in the first-world infrastructure seen everywhere. Also, There seems to be a lack of public parks and natural trails to be used by pedestrians and cyclists alike. Cycling seems to be as dangerous there as Russian roulette (hence, the lack of seeing cyclist riding anywhere on the island - I find it pretty strange for an island). Nevertheless, the people are friendly, the islands are service-oriented (service with a smile) and the selection of food on the island is unrivaled. Congestion in the downtown areas seem typical of many of the islands, but once one can get away to the outskirts of the island, one can take the time to enjoy the beauty and the people. Speaking of which, the only time one can encounter the indigenous peoples of the islands, is by visiting the outer towns and villages or hopping over to some of the sister islands. Staying in the tourist areas of downtown or the West Bay road areas will only let one meet foreign locals whom are simply their as expat workers to support the islands bustling tourism and banking industries. The coral reef diving is world renown, while the fishing goes neck and neck as well. Snorkeling can be done from just about anywhere off the islands' shores and tons of water sports available everywhere. Another thing worth mentioning is the world-class dutyfree stores... available just about everywhere on the island. I especially like to shop for my Creed cologne there because of the great prices... amongst other dutyfree items. All in all, I love visiting Grand Cayman. It's a first world destination with all the beauty and top quality amenities to be expected from the top island destinations around the world....

Best trip ever. This island has amazing beaches, delicious food, (Czech inn was our favorite) it is safe to travel around the island and it has so much to do! I did a ton of research and planning and I'm glad I did. We swam with stingrays (whatever you do dont miss this, and snorkeling while at stingray city it was one of my favorite moments) We did a bioluminescent tour and swam with neon blue bacteria, saw "disco shrimp" went to beautiful starfish point and held starfish. We rode horses that swam through the water while we rode. We went to rum point which is one of the most beautiful places on earth. In the morning we snorkeled at a beach where you watch see turtles come in for breakfast. We went to the turtle preserve where there are 6-7' turtles, I couldnt believe it! We went to see blowholes and crystal caves, beautiful botanical gardens, and snorkled at eden rock that basically is like flying over a underwater volcanic mountain range with tons of schools of fish. Governors beach on seven mile has spectacular snorkeling as well. This island has amazing people and so much to do. We stayed in Boddentown in the 2 story condos at turtle nest inn right on the water and had awesome snorkeling reefs right outside and free use of paddle boards and kayaks. Plus they made amazing pina coladas! Balconies upstairs and downstairs to the pool. Jacuzzi tub. Honestly there is nothing I would do different about this trip. We made a lifetime of memories. Rent a car, do your research and go here! I cant say enough about this place and its people, unbelievable down to the blue iguanas and chickens. I heard the diving is world class too! Dont just go to the cruize port. Explore this island it is a...
