Our First Experience with Air China – A Pleasant Surprise We flew with Air China for the first time in September 2025, taking a domestic flight from Beijing to Lijiang. To our surprise, the Business Class experience was excellent—especially for a domestic route. Check-in was fast and efficient, with absolutely no waiting times. Since we don’t speak Chinese, a staff member personally escorted us from check-in to the priority security check, which was a thoughtful touch. On board, the cabin crew spoke very good English and provided attentive and courteous service throughout the flight. A hot meal was served, and drinks were offered regularly and proactively. The aircraft itself was relatively new, with wide, comfortable seats that exceeded our expectations. We honestly wish Business Class within Europe would match this standard. Food definitely could use some improvement. Check-in staff are definitely great, website needs some stepping-up though. In-flight entertainment options are actually very good for long international flights. Some flight attendants were not the best for customer service, BUT: this guy sitting next to me on one of my flights was not able to request a special meal (vegetarian) when checking online, he told a flight attendant about this, who responded saying they normally only bring the amount requested prior to boarding, but since he was a vegetarian as well, he gave him his meal.
