Universal Studios Beijing Review
We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and still had to wait around 40 minutes to enter the park after going through the ticket check. This was probably the longest wait Iâve ever experienced just to get into a theme park.
After that, most visitors rushed to the Harry Potter area (Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, etc.), but since I was with my family and friends, we decided to take the kids to the âFlight of the Hippogriffâ ride first. Surprisingly, even though we were among the first to enter the park, we still waited about 45 minutes for the ride.
About six months ago, I visited Universal Studios in Tokyo, and I can confidently say it was much more impressive. For example, in Hogsmeade Japan, all the interactive wand spots had real, visible special effects â water pouring from fountains, fire bursting from chimneys, or doors opening with smoke. Here in Beijing, it was minimal, behind glass, and not very engaging. There was also a lack of live animation or entertainment related to the Harry Potter world â in Japan, there were shows with the Hippogriff, singing frogs, and more.
Overall, I would probably rate Universal Studios Beijing 3 out of 5. The highlight for my child was the Kung Fu Panda zone, which helped make the visit more enjoyable for the...
Read moreThe experience on Sunday morning when we have high hope for the Jurassic ride was killed by 1.30 hour wait just to find out that the ride would be halted by some âincidenceâ that is happening and will not be possible for us to ride was really wasting our time and our excitement with only one announcement and all morning effort was gone! A yellow card to chase the crowd to ride â otherâ stations. I think is park is overcrowded as it is supposed to be serving locals Chinese from all over China ( considering all CHINA and one theme park). We as a tourist find ourselves struggling over Chinese crowd and languages with no subtitles or tourist experience at all. I would say this is a â localâ Universal Studio and not as international destination for tourists as in other...
Read moreOverall this was an amazing experience, the theme park was awsome and the harry potter area was my personal favourite as i am a fan. The only couple of downsides i found was that the people were quite rude and would just push past you without caring, it was a bit more expensive then i had hoped, and for a tourist attraction they made no real attempt to speak another language and we did try and communicate through google translate and other simular translating apps, there was only 1 performance that we watched that was half translated into english. Going there as an Australian family we knew there would be some struggle but there was little to no accommodation for people that didnt know how to speak the...
